About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Happy Birthday Parchment Card

Good Morning All

I would like to share my news with you today - I have been accepted onto the Moving Along With The Times ( MAWTT ) design team, so looking forward to working with this talented team.  My first challenge will be on 3rd October so I hope you will join in.

My card today is a parchment card that I made a while ago.  It took quite a while to make but well worth it.

I do love this card and has already been sent to someone special.

Making Poinsettia Flower

Good Morning All
When I went to the craft class on Thursday and posted on here the flowers we had made, I was asked by afew people to show how they were made, so here goes.  HERE is the original post.

I used a LeCrea Multi Die 45.8961 Poinsettia, Olly used a Marianne die but I think you will get the same effect whichever one you use.

Once you have cut them out from good weight card.  I used at least a 270g one.  You can use as many pieces of the flower as you wish, I used 2 green and 3 red.  Spritz well with water  and leave to soak in.

This is the hard bit to explain --  Fold one petal over a wide tool or pencil, I used a glitter glue pen, hold the leaf over it with thumb and forefinger   (you have to sort of prop the pen against your tummy so that you can use both hands)   and the other hand put thumb and forefinger on edges of leaf and squish together so that it creases up, length ways, from centre to tip.

You have to press against the pen but push the edges together at the same time.

This is when, if you have used a card that is too thin, it may tear, but it does not matter if they tear abit, flowers are not perfect!!!

Leave to dry.  Mine dried very quickly as I had the fan on.  This is how they look when dried.

Please excuse the state of my embossing mat, it is covered with bits of glue as I use it all the time for flower making.

Then you need a large ball tool and an embossing mat or a mouse pad.  On the reverse of each petal, in small circular movement, rub over all the petal, do this on all petals on each flower, this breaks down the fibres in the card.

Then turn to right side facing up and rub in the centre so the petals start to curl up.

The one on the left has not been rubbed, you can see the difference to the one on the right which has.

Then proceed to glue together,
off setting each petal to the one underneath.

You dont want them directly on top of each other.

Each die set will have different centres,
I rubbed mine with ball tool to make it curl, stuck in centre and added gold Stickles.

Olly let us take any spare pieces of flowers so I took these Tim Holtz Tattered Florals.  These have been spritzed and squished  and below shows the flower I made with them.

I hope you can follow this OK, it is very difficult trying to show it on photos.  I had had a look on Youtube too to see if this technique is on there but I couldn't find one.
Tomorrow I will post some cards that I have made with the flowers from the class.

Special Wedding Card

Good Morning All

I can now show you a card I made a while ago for a lady that I know.  She wanted a really special Wedding card for her son.

I made a box to keep the card safe.

I put a square doily in the box to stop it waggling round as she was taking it back to the UK by car.

I made an easel card with wings, if you know what I mean .

I've hidden name and date etc with Picassa, but this was done on computer.

Made a little book with Spellbinders Labels 4 as she wanted some photos  incorporated in the card somewhere.

Gorgeous charm reads 'To Love and to Cherish'

Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares pearlised cream card.

Gems on the embossed white card.

Heart paper been in stash for ages.

I hope they liked it, the Happy Couple, and had a lovely day on Saturday.

Sunday Mojo started

G
ood Morning All
Sunday Mojo is back, we postponed it for a week because John Next Door gave me some goodies, or rather baddies.  I did not know what the heck to make with them, then it came to me at some ungodly hour in the night!!!!  For my new followers, John  ( who lives next door but one to me and used to live next door) we give each other some crafty goods each Sunday and challenge each other to make some beautiful creation with them.

These were the goods and I have to admit I did not use the glitter glue or the string.  Then I thought some type of plaque, then thought of Hollie (my Grand daughter) and a  name plaque to hang on her door.

I covered the book cover with maroon material cut off some curtains I have shortened.
Used a Crafters Companion cd to make the letters.
Covered with the piece of acetate.
Decorated with ribbon to hide the edges of acetate, white gems from local shop.
Butterfly peeloffs stuck on acetate and cut out, tiny butterflies from Mei flower.
Bows on sides are little clips for hair which Hollies Mum can use her when here hair grows abit more.

Craft Class

Good Morning All
I had a great time yesterday with John Next Door at Olly Doodles craft class.  We went on Monday and she (Olly) had some gorgeous flowers in the display cabinet, when I asked her about them she said she had done a class last week, showing how they were made.  I asked when the next one was and, long story, but she did one yesterday afternoon and it was great.  Even though John and I have crafted for years, we both learnt alot and loved it.

This is Olly showing Sheila how to do her poinsettia.

This is moi putting Stickles on my Poinsettia.

This is John looking bored!!!!!!!  But he wasn't, he just hates having his picture taken.

These are all three flowers that I made, I love the poinsettia.  Olly used  Marianne die for this and a Tim Holtz for the white one.  I have a Leabilities Poinsettia die and will make more of these using that one.

This is  a peony made with pearlised pink card or quite thick paper.

Fave Colour Combo

Good Morning All
It is time for Charisma Cardz Challenge again and the theme has been set by Jenni and it is Favourite Colour Combo.  When I see a card, I very often think that those colours look great together, so many combos, but I think this is an all time fave of mine, Pink and Black.

I used an image from one of the sponsors, Stamp Fairy and this  image is Two Pandas, I have coloured them more grey than black and white.  I have glittered the edge of the square with dark pink glitter and   have used satin ribbon in both colours to embellish, but other than that I  have kept it very plain, I hope you like it.

Sponsors this week are ----
The Stamp Fairy

And
Marker Pop  will give $10 credit for their online store.

Shaped Christmas Cards

G
ood Morning All

John and I were going to start our Sunday Mojo again today but the goods John gave me yesterday were, mmmm, abit obscure and I sat at my desk and pondered over them until about 8pm last night and then when  I saw John, both of us agreed to postpone it until next week.  So here is some cards I made this week using some shaped cards that were given to me by Linda (Animal  Aid).  I would not normally buy this type of thing but as they were given to me I thought I would use them and they will go back to Linda to sell for the charity.

There were hats, trees and boots.  This is what I came up with.

I just added  a decoupage image, some glitter and a sentiment and I hope they look  OK and Linda can sell the to raise some money for her charity.
