Crochet Blanket / Shawl

Good Morning All

                   These are some new shaped beads  that I got this week so if

This is a crochet blanket or shawl I have crocheted in browns and beiges, it is about 36" square, the wool is so soft, it is lovely.  The reason I made it in browns and beiges is because Lorien, when Hollie was born, wanted her room and bedding in beiges.  I thought they may have announced another on the way by now !!!!!  They only moved into their first house last year, so I do understand that they have alot to do there before having another baby.

I found the pattern HERE and it is so easy if you can do basic crochet stitches.

I like it because you do not have to do a great big long row of chain stitches, you start off from one corner and then increase until you get to the size you want, then you start to decrease.

Negative Glittery California Collection

Good Morning All
At last we have sunshine, the weather has been abit yukky here for the last week but normality has returned !!

As promised, here is what I did with the negative of yesterdays card, as you know, I cant throw anything out or waste it.

I cut what was left of the sticky paper / card so it would fit a 5 x 7 card.

I didn't want to just glitter it so I sprinkled pink glitter first, randomly, then the rest of it with white, and I quite like the effect it gives.

I used the same My Minds Eye paper as yesterday and stuck it under the aperture.

I used a lovely decoupage flower, a bead pin with ribbon and a circle sentiment from not sure where (sorry).
The girls at the Craft Meet yesterday were quite made up with this design so we will try it again I think.
Val also said she is going to join me in my mission not to buy any new stuff !!!!!

Glittery California Collection

Good Morning All

I caught a quick glimpse of Sue Wilson  on C & C afew weeks ago and she was using double sided sticky paper but I did not catch the full thing so I am not quite sure how she did it, so if any of you know of a video tutorial please let me know.

I was talking to John about it and he tried to explain to me but I should have written it down, I need a tutorial John Please !!!!!!

Anyway, this is my try at it.

I started by sticking one side of the double sided sheet to card, die cut it with Sue Wilson California Collection 'Hollywood'.

It was very fiddly getting the bits out though. There has got to be an easier way I think.

 Then I peeled off the other side and glittered it, then matted it onto brown paper, proceeded to mat and layer with My Minds Eye paper.  Decorate with bead pins and bow and gems.

Then I cut the same shape out in white card for the inside.

I will show you tomorrow what I made with the negative of the sticky card.

Blanket and Book

Good Morning All

I have finished this lovely blanket for Aurora.  Megan asked me to make one like the one I made for Noah HERE.  So I had to look at it and work out how many squares were knitted and how many were crochet.

     

So this is work in progress, fathoming out which squares go where.  I crochet it together with grey, just like I did Noahs.

I am very pleased with it and I,m sure Megan will be when I take it with me at the end of April for my visit to see Aurora Stephanie, she will be nearly 8 weeks old by the time I get there.  Flights have started going up already, for Easter so I had already booked mine for after Easter.

Also, I wanted to show you this book John Next Door made for me in December when I was there.

It is a spiral notebook and he covered using a Faux Leather look.

There is a book mark too and it fastens with ribbon and I keep my pen in there.

I have only just started using it because it is too nice to use for anything that is not to keep, if you know what I mean.

I decided to make a list of all my dies, after doing my personal challenge to myself, to use them all at least once.

So I try to keep them in order, that they are written in my book.

I put little Sticky tabs on the pages so that I can find what I am looking for quickly.

  In another part of it, I keep a note of the You Tube videos I want to keep looking at -----

Like crochet stitches or any other technique for card making or crafting.

And another part I keep sketches and plans/designs of cards or boxes I want to make again.

Sissix 'Iron Gate'

Good Morning All

My card today uses the Sissix 'Iron Gate' die, not alot on it but I think it looks very pretty.

I was playing around with small pearls and made the embellishments stuck in the bow.

The sentiment is acetate so I stuck pearls on the ends to hide the sticky tape, I used the strong 'red' tape as I wanted to bow it up abit.

Good Morning All

Time for Moving Along With The Times Challenge again and it is team A this week headed by Janice, and she wants to see Tags.

This is the one I made using Navy and White card.

When I was visiting UK in January I went to see John Next Door while he  was doing a workshop at Creative Expressions HQ and he was using these gorgeous Sue Wilson Flower dies and leaves which I adore, so they kindly let me cut some out from waste card.

I put the tag onto a card and here it is.  I added some navy satin ribbon and a Creative Expressions Dazzler and homemade bead pins in the bow.
I,m really pleased with this one, I love these flowers and will have to get saving for this die.

Mothers Day No. 2

Good Morning All

I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend.  We went to friends for  BBQ on Saturday afternoon, weather was not brilliant, after a week of lovely sunshine, it decided to rain on Saturday, but gladly, it cleared late afternoon and the sun came out again.  So we had a quiet day yesterday and the internet decided to go down so I could not Skype with my sons, so hopefully today I will speak to them.

This is the card I made for Johns Mum.

Weaved ribbon set behind a scalloped square negative cut.  The flowers are Sue Wilson die that I cut  when I was at CE Towers with John Next Door, I really do want this die but cannot afford it yet.

Homemade bead pins to finish off the ribbon bow.

Happy Mothers Day

Good Morning All

As today is Mothers Day in the UK I will show you the first of two that I have sent out.

This one was sent to my Mum and I used the Sue Wilson 'Bevelled Glass' Striplet die, My Minds Eye paper and sentiment from Netty HERE.  The ribbon is binding and John Next Door got me onto this, I really need to see if I can buy it over here because you can make lovely bows with it and it's nice and floppy.

It is a single layer card so I had to put a stand on the back.

Flowers & Pearls

Good Morning All

Wow I had a trip and a half on Thursday.  I went with the couple who have set up the car business in the village, he is doing well and selling plenty of cars so he needed to source some more to sell.  He found a couple in Marbella, so he asked me if I was willing to help out and go with them to bring one back.  We set off a 6am and got back at 7pm, about 5 hours driving, but the scenery was gorgeous, driving right by the Sierra Nevada mountains, still topped with snow.

I used black & white, flowers given to me by Linda (Animal Aid), flowery paper in stash for ages.  Squares are Nellie Snellen  MFD006 and the 'For You' Sentiment is a Sissix die which will go in the bin as it does not cut very well, it comes with a swirl but that cuts even worse than this one.  I bought it on Ebay, waste of money.

Good Morning All

I have made a couple of cards, one for Megan and Lee and one for Noah because I dont want him to feel left out !!!!

I could have made it well in advance as we knew it was going to be a girl but I wanted to personalise inside with the weight and date etc, and I forgot to photograph it, sorry.  I die cut two hearts in two shades of pink and typed her name etc on. I posted them yesterday, so hopefully, they should be with them in afew days.

Stamp Fairy & Some News

Good Morning All

A break from  my 'die challenge' today to tell you my  news.  Megan had a baby girl early Sunday morning, 7lb 3oz and both doing well.
Also I have been accepted on the Creative Craft Cottage Challenge Design Team,
I,m not sure when my first post will be for that one but will let you know.

This card has been in my file for ages so I can't remember what all the elements are.  I think the die cuts were borrowed from one of my crafty friends and the flowers are Cheery Lynn Roses.

It is what I call, a busy card, quite alot of embellishments, no symmetry to it, if you know what I mean.

It is a Stamp Fairy digi coloured with Promarkers (I dont do much colouring these days but I think I am going to have to start again)

Good Morning All

Allsorts Challenge this week is 'Spring is in the Air', set by Brenda.

I chose a variety  of lovely vibrant greens with  flowers, a reminder of new buds on the trees.

I used Marianne die CR1202 for the frame and the flowers, another S/B scalloped circle for the sentiment which was a freebie from somewhere but i cant remember where so if anyone knows I would love to give credit. Used odd bits of green card for the backing.

Good Morning All

Moving Along With The Times this week is 'Show Us A Bunny' hosted by Judith.
I took this opportunity to make Hollies card.  I never make Easter cards unless I am asked to but now I have the Grand Children, I do like to send them one along with a litlle Easter gift of choccy eggs!!!!

I used a sweet LOTV topper and matched it with some ribbon I won from Crafty Ribbons a good while ago.

I have made  one for Noah too and I shall show it in a future post.

Good morning All

Nearly at the end of my personal Die cut challenge and the last few are scheduled for DT posts so back to normal for afew days.

A friend of ours has just started his own business selling used cars here in the village.  He painted the showroom in scarlet and black so I made this card to match!!!

Die cuts of cars on the inside cover and made the front to look like a window.

I,m sure he will do well.  He and his wife are a lovely couple and we go out for a drink with them occasionally.

We bought our car from him when he worked in the garage across the road.

Penny Black 'Blossoms & Bows

Good Morning all

It is my turn to contribute to the Penny Black  at Allsorts Challenge and the theme is Blossoms  & Bows.

A sweet, pretty Penny Black image   4164K Titled 'A Rose'.
 Embellished with lots of flowers, and ribbons from Joanna Sheen, and I used the S/B Scalloped Hexagon for the sentiment, I do use this alot for my sentiments.
