About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Stick Pin Fabric book

Good Morning All

I made  a stick pin book to go on the stall last week but it didn't sell.
Although, overall I did very well, others didn't do too well, but I sell my cards so cheap, just to get rid of them really.  Better getting something instead of nothing.
I have lots of lace to be used and this is a perfect way of using it.
I really enjoy making these and have been making ribbon flowers too, as you saw on Monday.
(Tutorial at top of blog)

This is the inside before I added the pins.

I did quite well though so very pleased.
And a big Thank You to my crafty friend Val, who helped out before flying off to UK.

This wont be wasted as it will be a surprise gift for someone.

*******
Did you see John Next Door on Hochanda this week?
He was storing his stick pins on a heart shaped box like this.
This is one he made for me, and I still use it.
The pins are some of the first I made, aren't some of them  awful???

This was the original post HERE when he gave it to me before he moved to UK.
He is very good at sewing but I dont think he has as much time to play now.
*****
Also, when I got up this morning the sky was an amazing colour, the pic doesn't do it justice.
It was so pink and grey, just beautiful, it changed in the few seconds it took me to get hold of my tablet.

and this is one day last week, another beauty.

Twisted Ribbon Flowers

Good Morning All

I did a swap on Facebook and received this ribbon flower amongst it.
I asked if she had made it but it was from a shop.
It was so pretty I decided to have go.

I have put a picture tutorial on the pages at the top of my blog.

This is one before a centre added

Here is the spotty one and the spots are only on one side of the ribbon but still looks good.

Swap Goodies

Good Morning All

Do you remember me telling you I had joined a Swap Group on Facebook and I showed you a Fabric Stick Pin book I had made as an extra gift for my first swap HERE.
Well on Wednesday my parcel arrived from my partner and I was blown away.

This is the Snail Mail Flip Book/ Envelope Book
this is what the swap was about.
It had a pocket on the front with a Gorjuss tag tucked in.

Filled with papers, embellishments, journal cards

******

I adore these handmade fabric flowers.

A decorated peg.  I have never made one of these but it looks great and will have to try this.

These gorgeous shaker tags, another great idea.

Beautiful paper bows fastened with a decorated peg too.

And some die cuts which will definitely get used on my cards.

She said she had looked on my blog to see what type of craft I enjoyed and she came up with these.!!!!!!

I remember showing a pic on Facebook or maybe John Lockwood did, saying that he had eaten the last Jelly Baby, maybe that's where she got the idea from.
Unless they are a substitute for White Emparado Semi Sweet Wine!!!!!!!!
They went down a treat!!!1
Thanks you Veonnifer.

AG for Xmas for MAWTT

Good Morning All
Well we are back to blue skies here on the Costa Blanca after afew days of rain, and worse still it was, what we call 'dirty rain', it leaves red soil all over everything.  John went out wiping all the window ledges and tables down.

Moving Along With The Times Challenge is hosted by Christine this time.
She would like to see Anything Christmassy.

I made quite alot of these pinwheel cards.
I make the pinwheels while Iwatch TV at night then make the cards up the next day.
So for me, they are quick cards and I think they look quite effective.
HERE is a tutorial on You Tube how to make them.

Also, it is  a great way of using small scraps of card and papers.

Please pop over and join in.
I am still looking for DT members for MAWTT.

An easy design team to be on as you only have to create once per month and comment for 2 weeks out of 4.
We are nice , really LOL

Triangle Card

Good Morning All
Last week at our craft club, Jen showed us how to make a Triangle card, this is mine.

I made the base there and decorated it up once I got home.

As there is nowhere to write on it, I added a little tag and attached it with a ribbon and charm.

And it folds flat to go in the post.

Now onto winter.  It is that time of year here, when it is warmer outside than indoors This is the fire we have in our living room, here in Spain.  It uses a calor gas bottle and last year we did not use it at all, it was so mild here.  Well this year we have had it on a couple of times already and had to go and buy a new bottle as the one in it was empty.
13.90 euros for a filled bottle, couldn't believe it, last time we got one filled, 2 years ago, it cost us 18 or 19 euros.
It's not very often things come down in price but to come down so much, WOW.

Keep warm.

Small Fabric Book

Good Morning All
I wanted to show you this small fabric book I made for a swap group that I am a member of on Facebook.
I was abit nervous of joining in with the swaps but the lady was really pleased with what I sent her.
A theme is set and then names are drawn for our partners and
we are given a date to post the parcel by.
Anyway, the swap was for snail mail, flip book or envelope book.
So I made an envelope book and filled each envelope with bits and bobs.
But I also included a fabric book with some stick pins in and other embellishments.

This is the front, it measured about 6 x 4"

This is the back.

Inside before pins added.
Crocheted doily that I made too.

I also added some of the embellishments I made and showed HERE

My swap partner loved it all.

I will show you what she sent me when I receive it.

On countdown now for UK visit, 2 weeks.

'O' Christmas Tree for Allsorts

Good Morning All
Allsorts Challenge is hosted by Kath and the theme is 'O' Christmas Tree.
I was browsing Pinterest and saw this design using ribbon for a Christmas Tree and thought it would fit this theme perfectly.

I used Pixie Powders for the background.
I took a second imprint from the first one, infact I got 5 imprints.
If you watch John Lockwood on Hochanda you will know what I mean.

Sponsor is Crafty Ribbons

Pretty Pink Box

Good Morning All
I have been trying to make afew really fancy bits for the stall at the end of the month.
I love making this style of box, especially with a lid.

This is the top.
Lots of pink flowers, leaves and a metal butterfly with tiny diamonds for the body.

A side view.

The white lace is a pack of 20 pieces I bought on a local market and that is the shape of them, sort of 'wing' shaped, perfect for this project.

Pink lace around the rim with afew pearls here and there.

And here is the inside.

Very pleased with how this turned out.
*******
A reminder that I am looking for a couple more DT members for MAWTT Challenge.
All you have to do is create one item per month and comments for two weeks of each month.
Please comment here or email me.

Embellishments

Good Morning All
I have been making some more embellishments with beads.
As you know, I have to do something with my hands (no rude comments please) while watching TV.
I have loads of stick pins so wanted something a little different.

I threaded the beads onto plastic thread, like fishing wire, added various charms and tied off with a surgeons knot.
Easy Peasy

I love these heart charms.
They do have the word 'Love' on each one, so sweet.

These have various charms on.

One here mounted onto  a lace flower.

This one has one of the charms I made HERE.

Here is a card I made using one which I  added onto a lace flower and feathers.
This Teddy charm is so cute.
