About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Weaving

Good morning All
As this goes out I shall be on my way to the airport to get my flight to Uk, fingers crossed that French Air Traffic Control dont go on strike!!!!
While I,m away I wont be able to visit you all as often as my tablet is not very Blogger friendly.
******

Since watching Sue Wilson and her Weaving dies on C&C the other day, I thought I would try doing it without a die, not as detailed but quite good I think and at very little cost !!!!

I dont know about you, but when I watch C&C I really DO WANT the products but can't afford them, so now I have got to think to myself, 'do I really need them?'

No I dont is the answer.  So I made do with figuring a way to do this without the die, and afew people have said that this die is quite complicated to use so this is what I figured out.

I cut white card at 1/2" and coloured card at 1.4" and stuck them together as shown.

Then I cut an aperture in an A5 card and weaved the strips behind it as the pic below shows.

And this is the result which I am very pleased with.
My bead pins with a homemade tassle (I made quite afew of these the other night and am very pleased with them too), homemade quilled flowers and the leaf die I borrowed from Val at craft meet, and an acetate sentiment.
What do you think?

Here is afew pics when we went on the Tapas Run yesterday, that provide a little train that passes all the bars taking part.

We only managed to visit 4 bars before it ended at 4pm but a good time was had by all.
And a couple of friends flew in from Belfast so they were able to join us too.
Great fun.

Bring Your Bling

Good Morning All
Allsorts Challenge this week is 'Bring Your Bling', Helene wants to see lots of SPARKLE.

These die cuts are some I had  in my box and I think it was a die I borrowed from John Next Door before he deserted me!!!!  I topped it with a decoupaged flower and stuck all of it onto  glittered paper.  My bead pins stuck in the ribbon and decorated up with lots of gems.

Sponsors this week are-Whimsy Stamps

Why not pop over to the challenge blog and have a peek at all the other DT creations and have a go yourself.
******
We have a Tapas run this weekend in the village so will be popping along for afew tomorrow.  They are promoting Aubergines so each bar is doing 3 tapas and we have to vote for the best bar. One tapa and one drink for 2 euro, so bang goes the diet again!!!!
******
I am going to the UK earlier than planned, Monday, so if I dont get round to visit your blogs, please forgive me as my tablet is not Blogger friendly but I will do my best.

Decorated Box

Good Morning All
Sorry, abit of a moan coming.  At my time of life I am suffering hot flushes and have been taking Black Cohosh, I dont know if this has anything to do with it, but my joints have been aching badly, especially my fingers.  As a result, I am finding it hard to crochet and do the more fiddly bits of crafting, so annoying a I need to craft when I am watching TV, especially knitting and crochet. I need a miracle cure for my achy joints, I wish!!!!!
I know I shouldn't moan as there are lots of people worse off than me.
******
Afew weeks ago I decided to decorate a box that I have had in a cupboard for ages, it was nice and sturdy, too good to throw out.

I used some LOTV paper as it was quite a thick piece, quilled flowers, lace and odd bits and bobs from my stash.

Another one that will be going to the Slimming Club filled with bath goodies I think, as a raffle prize.

Something Yummy to Eat or Drink

Good Morning All
Well I had the old top knot tidied up and coloured  yesterday and I,m very pleased with it.
On countdown now for a week on Thursday, 30th, flying to UK to visit with Aurora and the rest of the family.  Cant wait.
*******
Time for the challenge over at Creative Cottage Crafts Blog.  This fortnight the theme is 'Something Yummy to Eat or Drink' and the sponsor is The Cutting Cafe, who provided us with a set of sweet or cookie jar images that you could make a shaped card with and images of sweets and cookies or jelly beans  to put inside the jar.

There are loads of things you could do with these sets, but I just cut the jar out and filled it with sweets and decorated the jar with gems and ribbon.
I used the small piece of paper I had left with 'cupcakes' on.  The backing paper brings it all together as it is sparkly and has all different tones of gold, orange, pinks and greys, very unusual.

With all this in mind, ie, food, I am really trying to be good on my diet as the weight is slowly creeping back on.  I have got to get a grip.

More Parchment

Good Morning All
It's off to the hairdressers for me this morning, I had made the appointment for last Monday, forgetting that I was going away for afew days, so changed it to today.  Got to keep the roots coloured at my age !!!!!!
*******
Another Parchment card for you today and one I am quite pleased with.

I could have made more of the pieces to make a full fan but it would have been too big to make into a card unless I made a very large one.

Hope you all have a good day and thanks for visiting.

Quick & Simple Does It

Good Morning All

Allsorts Challenge is Quick & Simple hosted by Jo.

It was difficult not to add loads of gems, pearls, ribbon, charms etc.
so all I did was cut a LOTV pre coloured topper with S/B bellyband, inked the edges .  Then used Marianne dies LR0205 and LR0223 for the fence, birdcage and Happy Birthday.

I have just pinched this paragraph from Jo's blog on how to leave a comment as a friend of mine asked how to if she does not have a Google account.
At the end of each blog post, you will see the word "comment" and it will show how many comments have been left. Just click on that word and it opens up another page where you can read everyone's comment and there is a box in which to type your own comment. You will then need to choose an identity from the list below this. You don't have to have a google account, if you have tick that box, if not pick "anonymous" however, you must add your name to the end of your comment or I will not know who it is from. You then need to press PUBLISH
and this will then show in the comments on my blog.

Dont forget I have these lovely bead pins with charms for sale,
just leave a comment with email address.

Many colours and styles available, see page at top for more.

Purple

Good Morning All
As this goes out we will still be in  Mojacar,  I dont have my lap top with me, only a tablet so I may not be visiting you all as often as usual, but I will catch up tomorrow night.

I,m not sure what die this is, as when we have our craft meets, some of us take afew dies and a cuttlebug and we cut away, so this is one of Vals, I think.
I added some Gilding Wax and some pretty handmade paper and some quilled flowers.
Have a good day.

I was playing with some new charms on my bead pins before we went away and here they are.

If anyone wants to buy any of these they would be 5GBP or 6.80 Euros for 12 inc free P&P.
If you want to buy other bead pins the link is HERE to view them and if you  would like 3 of these added into the selection, just email me or comment.

A Bag

Good Morning All
I want to welcome Chrissy to my blog, I love it when I get a new follower, makes me feel abit special !!!!!!
**************
I made this bag from a tutorial I saw on You Tube HERE, it is so easy and I intend to make lots more in pretty colours.

All you need is 2 x 12 " square pieces of  reasonable weight papers and embellishments of your  choice and away you go.  Easy Peasy.  This will be going to my Slim Club on Friday filled with something 'nice'.
Please forgive me if I dont visit you all for afew days while we are in Mojacar, but I cant access Blogger Dashboard on my tablet and it is alot slower to do individually.

Bingo

Good Morning All
Can anyone help me?  When I view Blogger Dashboard on my Samsung Tablet I cannot scroll down anymore, I used to be able to but now I can only view the three blogs on that page.  If you know how to correct this please leave me a comment, Thanks.
*****
Thank Goodness the weather has started to pick up here in Spain, it has been quite cold and very windy.  We are going on a trip to Mojacar on Monday with a couple of our neighbours, just for 3 nights, so I hope it will be nice and sunny for walks around the area.

It is a 'Bingo' theme over at Allsorts Challenge today and the choice is from Tracy.
Pop over to the Challenge blog to see the table Tracy has designed.

I decided on 'Sentiment -Ribbon - Gems'

Parchment Flowers

Good Morning All
As I showed you the other day, I am doing abit more parchment, and here is another one.

I love the way this one has turned out, It is very easy but looks very effective, with the white work and colour behind it.
After doing parchment there is inevitably odds bits left over, so the other day, I got them all out with some punches and went to work and this is what I came up with.

Lots of tiny flowers, that I layered up and added    gems to the centres.

I think the largest of these is about 3/4" in diameter and the smallest, less than 1/2".  The tiny, tiny gems I used on some, I have had for years, I bought them in a multi pack years ago

Cute Forever Friends

Good Morning All

I am still on a mission to use some of my old stash and these are two cards I have made using a set of decoupage and toppers from Forever Friends.  I made loads of cards from this set and could post one each day for the next two months LOL.

There were some little gift bags and tags in the set too, which I thought was nice, especially for a Christening card.  Quick cards to make so I now have alot in my boxes ready for the charities.

Good Morning All
I hope you  have all had a good Easter and not eaten too many choccy eggs.  I have not had one, aren't I a good girl???

Welcome to my new followers too, I hope you have a good time visiting me.
*******
I have been doing abit of parchment again this last week and this is one of them.  I really like the way this one has turned out.  The pattern was for a full oval shape but I thought I would just do half of it and put this lovely handmade paper underneath.  I cut some flowers from odd bits of parchment paper with Cheery Lynn Roses dies - B154 and B 152.  The Chrysanthemum strip is Cheery Lynn B 311.

Craft Club and Mens cards

Good Morning All
Happy Easter Everyone
*****
Yesterday was our craft meeting and there were some gorgeous cards made too.
One of the ladies, Sue, wanted to make 'man' cards.  She is not a card maker but I think she has been converted, as she had been out and bought some stash!!!!!
And here she is with here first card (the 70th one) made all by herself, the one for Tabitha we made last week.

Here is three cards I made.

The first one is a technique I saw on Sue Wilson You Tube channel.  OH's beer cartons cut and embossed, mixed in with some papers that Linda (Animal Aid) gave me a while ago.

The second one is the same card and some Paper Mania shapes.

Third one, same card embossed with a tool embossing folder.and a stack of cards added to make the shape of  presents.

Just something abit different to show Sue that you can make cards with very little stash, or recycle stuff too.

Here is my friend Lyn with a gorgeous card she added the finishing touched to yesterday, it was really stunning.

And here is me, Jacky on my left and Val on my right and Sue behind me.

Unfortunately, this is the last time we will all be together for a while as some are going back to UK for visits and to live, but hopefully, some will still come each week.

Birth stone

Good Morning All
Moving Along With The Times Challenge this week is hosted by Hazel our boss lady.
She wants to see creations with a  colour theme of your birthstone.
My birthday is in May so that makes mine an  Emerald.

Quite hard to photograph this one, as the green mirri card was so reflective.  I used a Sue Wilson die from the California Collection 'Hollywood', cut from Centura Pearl card.  Leanne Creatables corner die and 3 of my bead pins in the green satin ribbon bow.
