About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

With a Cherry on Top for Allsorts

Good Morning All
Allsorts Challenge this week is hosted by Helene and she would love to see anything
with a Cherry on Top.
I did struggle to find an image for this one but I knew I had an acrylic stamp somewhere in my stash but could I find it?  I searched through my box three times before I finally spotted it  stuck in with another set.!!!!

I made it a nice bright card as the Sentiment is 'Keep Smiling'.
I dont know whose stamp it is but I painted with Mica paints.
John Lockwood paper pad.
Gems and ribbon from stash.

So 80's for MAWTT

Good Morning All
Moving Along With The Times is hosted by our lovely Lena this fortnight and she has chosen the theme of So 80's.
Now I will admit, this was abit of a challenge for me.
80's were my very fave time of my life, the boys were little, music was great.
I had been to see Michael Jackson at Wembley and Aintree.
Loved Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet.
Life was great, we were not rich but we were happy.
Anyway, I found it hard to decide what to go with, images of my fave bands or somthing political.
Anyway, here goes.

We were very lucky (my first hubby & I) that our parents lived close by and we were able to party when we wanted to as they were always willing to babysit.
Sorry, that sounds like we were out all the time, we were able to go out every Saturday though.
How I loved the 80's.

Quilled cards

Good Morning All
I wanted to show you these two cards that Lorien received when she had Tess.
They were made by a friend of her Grannies and Lorien said it would be OK to show on here.

I thought they were really good, the way she has used the quilling paper to write 'It's a girl' and to make the shape of a Pram and a Stork
and a Teddy too.

Give me some ideas too.

Also I dont think I showed this when I made it.
Another box card I made for Lorien and Rick when Tess was born.

Grand Kids Shabby Chic Canvas

Good Morning All
We are away this morning for afew days to a place called Altea.
It's not very far, about 1 and 1/2 hours drive but the deal we got with the hotel was too good to miss.
So forgive me for not commenting for afew days.
********
I have three pictures in my house that I inherited when I moved in with my John.
They are flowers painted on canvas and about 18" x 18".
They are nice but I  am abit fed up with them so I thought I would alter one and see how it turned out.
I painted the whole thing with white Oil paint, which took an age to dry, I have since bought some Acrylic paint which will dry alot quicker.

I wanted to keep the centre for photos of my Grand kids.
Then I went to town with embellishments !!!!
The great thing about this type of art is that you can use lots of bits that you would no longer use on cards or have had in  your stash for ages.

All the doilies are hand crochet by me.

If anyone would like afew please email me and I will send some.

Hand made flowers from scraps of material.

I added Texture Paste, Shells, Flowers, Lace, String
etc. etc. etc.

I put a sheet of acetate in the middle so that I could add a sheet with photos on and change it as and when I wanted.

I have left a space to add pics of Tess when I get some  printed when I go to UK in June.

Very Happy with how this turned out and I am eager to do another one.
*******
This now takes pride of place on my wall.
Did anyone catch John next Doors shows on Hochanda with him doing Mixed Media?
I caught up on them afew days ago and was very impressed.
Here is is link to one of the items he showed.
He really seemed to enjoy doing this type of art.
I saw the item showed on the link and it really is soooo shiny.

Red White and Blue for Allsorts

Good Morning All
It is Kaths turn to host the challenge at Allsorts this week and she wants Red, White and Blue only.

I saw this technique on You Tube and Fiona (Jennings 664) used it to make a picture from using fabric and I thought it would look good using paper.

I used different scraps of red paper, patterned blue paper and, obviously, the sentiment is stamped on white card using a Sentimentally Yours Corner stamp from CE's Phill Martin range.
I wrapped some blue twine around it and added a 'Good Luck' elephant charm.

Spring Flowers for MAWTT

Good Morning All
Moving Along With The Times is hosted by Gail from Team A and the theme is 'Spring Flowers'.

I decorated a Ferrero Rocher Chocolate box
with floral material cut off from a quilt cover when I made cushion covers for the outside sofa!!!

I trimmed with some pretty lace from local China store.

Made a shabby chic flower with  offcuts from some curtains.
Then trailed some lovely cream roses along the top.

I cut a piece of handmade card for the inside.

I will fill with cottonwool balls and give it as a raffle prize to one of the charities.

Colour Combo for Craft Rocket

Good Morning All
Craft Rocket Challenge this week is 'Fave Colour Combo'
Now, I know, we all have many, if I use Pink and Black, that is my fave.
If I use Brown and Blue, that is my fave.
For this one it is Peach and Brown, love it.
I made a Wall Hanger Pin Cushion.
After watching many You Tube vids, I decided to have a go and here it is.

It is about 10" wide and most of the bits are from my stash, all I had to buy was the stuffing to go inside and the pearl string.  I couldn't get any wadding so I had to buy a cushion for 1.85 euro and use the stuffing from inside.
Roses are Cherry Lynn die.
Just for You a Sue wilson die
LOVE X Cut Alphabet dies
Bronze Butterfly from local China shop (so cheap for 6)
I won the lace afew years ago.
My own Bead Pin and  hanging beads.

Shabby Chic Frame

Good Morning All

My older followers will remember when John Next Door and I used to do challenges on Sundays, called Sunday Mojo.  We would take it in turns to give each other some stuff and we had to make something with them and I think this frame was one that John made, he left it with me when he went back to UK.
The link to what I did to my frame is  HERE.

Anyway, I found this one that John had made. When he packed up to return to UK he left few bits and bobs behind with me.  I found this and thought I would have a go at altering it.
Hope you dont mind John.!!!
He doesn't, as I checked with him.

So I stripped it of the pic, John had painted the frame in shabby pink and cream so that looked OK.
I just added some heat embossing of a glitter powder and then sprayed it with Mica powder in water then heat dried it.
I wanted to make it into something I could put pics of the kids in so I made an acetate pocket so that I can change the photo when I want to.

The pic I put in is one of Noah with Aurora which I thought suited the shabby look of this perfectly as it is half in shadow.

The doilies are ones I have crocheted myself.
Quite pleased with this but not as shabby chic as I would like.
This technique does not come naturally to me.
Please let me know what you think.

Ps. I had a fab time at Ally Pally, met some wonderful people and made some new friends.
I shall add some pics next week when I get home and can upload pics from my camera.
Having lots of baby and Hollie cuddles this week.

Blankets for Dogs

Good Morning All
I put a poster on the wall in the local English bar (where we have our slim and craft meets)
asking if anyone had any scraps of wool they no longer required.
A lady brought in a  massive bags of odd balls.
There was allsorts, some full balls, some tiny scraps, double knitting, 4 ply and chunky too.
I dont think the dogs will mind a mix of colours or ply of wool do you???

As you know I like to keep my hands busy while watching TV. (no rude comments please !!!)  so I crochet alot and knit abit.
The charity I give alot of my cards to are always on the look out for blankets and covers for the dogs.

I gave these to Linda just before I went to UK,   She was really pleased with them.

Hello John and Pin Cushion

Good Morning All

As this post goes live I shall be  on my way to the airport  to visit this young man.
As I wave goodbye to my John and will say Hello to John Next Door at lunch time I hope, if all on time.

It is so handy as John lives in the region  of the airport I have to fly to, to visit Ricky and Lorien.

He picks me up and we can spend some crafty time together.
I,m lucky enough to be going to Ally Pally too, so may see some of you there on Saturday and Sunday.

****
This is a Ferero Rocher Choccy box I have altered for a girl that goes to our slim club and has just bought herself a sewing machine, although she is not a sewer, she has been watching You Tube !!!

So I thought I would use this to make a pin cushion and box combined for her cotton reels and needles etc.

I had to put glitter on this flower as I got hot glue on it and couldn't pick it off!!!!

I love the black flower motifs, I can't remember where they came from.

This is the inside.
