About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

4 for 1

Good Morning All
I am up early today as I am waiting for workmen to arrive to do some work in the house.
I thought I would show you these cards I made the other day.  I was playing about with my Spellbinders border dies - I bought a set afew weeks ago and I thought they were cutters but when I got home they were embossers so I had to buy 2 more sets with the cutting edgers in!!  Anyway I was playing around and ended up with afew embossed/ cut edges so I decided to make a card, got out a piece of 8 x 8 lilac patterned paper and made a card.  Isn,t this Happy Birthday stamp lovely? (from Docrafts on a sheet I bought ages ago)
There was still some paper and borders left so I decided to make another.

There was still some paper and borders left so I decided to make another.
There was a tiny piece of paper and a border left so I decided to make another.

I have just posted two boxes of scrap back to UK for ladies on the Docrafts forum to use in their nursery schools and they cost nearly 15 GBP but I do so hate wasting anything and would rather someone get some use from it.  So, by doing this, there was no waste left from the 8 x8 piece of paper and my charities gain 4 cards from it too.

Have a good day

Good Morning All

I made this Christmas Card last year and have just some more things out of the cupboard and I decided to finish this one off.  I think the instructions were in Making Cards Magazine, but I,m sure they could be found on Youtube (you can find everything on there)
I think it looks very effective and it will fold flat to go in an envelope.

Enjoy.

Girlie

Good Aternoon All
Looking forward to tonight as 'Chess' (Queen Tribute band) are on tonight as part of the fiesta celebrations, so it will be another late one for us.

Todays card is pretty and girlie.
I made it mainly to put the ribbon flowers on that I have made but they don't show up very well as they are made with organza ribbon instead of silk, you can see how to make them here.  Really Reasonable Ribbon  Ramblings shows you how to make them on a video but one word of advice is not to pull right the way through, you will understand if you have a go.  They do look good though and I have fastened mine with a brad.  The creamcard in the middle is the 4 negatives from my previous frame card.  Sarah Kay sentiment. Gems from ebay.  Pearls from Papermania.  Corner punch from EK. Homemade sentiment tag. Punched silver butterfly and a peeloff on acetate butterfly. All rest from stash.

2nd Tutorial

Good Evening All

Here is my 2nd tutorial on how to make a frame card as shown in post yesterday -

I use cream card measuring 36 x 12 cms
Scored at 4  and  7  and  15 and 18 cms from left short side
Fold as shown in this picture------
Choose what shape aperture you would like - I used a scalloped Sissix Die on my Cuttlebug.
Then stick a piece of acetate behind it.
Then decide which paper you would like and cut a piece measuring 18 x 18 cms and glue in place right upto last fold then along to right hand edge.  I cut mine slightly shorter than 12 cm then I would have a cream border showing as in picture.
It is at this stage that you should stick your embellishment that is going to show behind your window - and which numpty forgot again!!!!!  YES  ME.
Using both double sided tape and glue stick from left edge to first fold (use glue stick over tape then you can manoeuvre until in correct position).  Fold over to make your frame shape and stick down over your paper, but flatten before the final stick down out then you know it will fold flat to go in envelope.
Where my finger is in the picture above, that is your left edge.
Now you can start to decorate as you wish.  I had to put my flower inside at this point (fool that I am)

And here is a couple more that I have made tonight.  You can adjust the measurements to any you like to make your frame wider or narrower.  This size will fit in a 8 x 6 " envelope.

I hope you like them and find this one easy to follow.  Please email me if you have any problems and have loads of fun making yours.

The stall went Ok last night and we all had a good time.  We took a reasonable amount of money which all goes back into the charities I support here and some will go to buy food for the poor families in our village.

Thanks for looking here today.

Tutorial

This shows how I made the Christmas card on an earlier post (yesterday)

2 pieces of card measuring -  11" x 6" (I used an embossed one for the top )

Score the bottom one at 3"   from left side
Score the top one at 1.5"  and  5"  and  6.5"  from left side (good side on top)
                                                and fold as shown

Draw round a shape (I used a rectange OR you could use a die cutting maching and a die) as show on the front piece between the 1.5" fold and the 5" fold  and cut out carefully with a craft knife and glue a piece of acetate over the aperture
                                                                       showing wrong side

Next
Choose your paper and cut a piece measuring  6" x 4" (this will be what shows behind your acetate) and glue on to back piece of card from fold line.  The right edge of paper will be hidden behind front piece of card when glued into position.
It is at this stage when you should add your embellishment or whatever you wish to have behind your window(acetate), before glueing the front on (I forgot and had to add it later) - numpty that I am!!!!!

Using a mixture of both double sided tape and a glue stick, this adds a little moving around time to get it positioned correctly.
(This is hard to explain) ------
on front piece with good side facing up - from left side to first fold use glue / tape and stick into fold on back piece to butt up against edge of fancy paper

Then, on wrong side of front piece, use tape and glue again, you have to hold your shape into a box and stick to back piece.  Both right sided edges shoud be together but if they are not dont worry they can be trimmed.

These 2 pics are what you should end up with

And it should fold flat to get into an envelope (I always test this before I stick down)
Then you can go to town on your embellishments -
I put peeloffs around frame and ribbons and gems and pearls on flat piece but with the embossed card it did not need too much

I hope you find this clear enough to follow and if not please email me and I  will try to explain.  But please leave a comment to let me know what you think.  Soon I will do another tutorial explaing how I did the cream one from one piece of card.

Picture card

Good Morning All

Today is the day of the stall, all ready (I think).  I will let you know how it goes tomorrow but I am looking forward the seeing the tribute acts - Robbie Williams, Cher, Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse - after we have finished selling.
This one is for John (next door).  I keep urging him to start his own blog and I will  let you know when he does then you can pop over and visit.  His style is very different to mine - more shabby chic/grungy, but it is fun swapping ideas and craft stuff.
I made this with papers from Papermania, they were in the goody bag in May, along with the ribbon and the brad.  Charm from one of the cut up bracelets.  Yellow gems are Papermania and  white ones from Ebay.  Scalloped edge squares are Nellie Snellen - 2 large and 2 smaller mounted at diagonal angles.
I will do a tutorial over the weekend with pics to show how I made this using 1 piece of card.

Christmas Boxed Off

Good Morning All

I,ve been a bit busy getting organised for the stall tomorrow as part of Fiesta week here.

Hard to think about Christmas now but here is another card I have made

This is really quite easy to make and I will do a post on how to do it within the next few days once the fayre is over.  It does fold flat to go in a A5 envelope too.  It has 2 decoupaged images on it, one behind the acetate window and 1 on the side.  You can go to town on decorating it up.  Peeloffs, die cut baubles, border punches etc etc. xxx
I have done afew of these with a bunch of flowers behind the window and they look great.

P.S.  I have added a tutorial on 18th July on how to ake this style of card.

A couple of pics from the Wacky Races the other night in the village.

It was a really fun night and there were about 20 cars/mobiles, practically the whole village turns out for these things going on.  It is great.

Fly Away Teddies

Good Morning All
We had a very late night last night and I have only just got up and had a quick swim.   We had neighbours round for a BBQ and then went into the village to watch 'The Beatles' - a Spanish tribute band and they were very very good.  It is fiesta week here in Benijofar so there is something going on nearly every night this week, culminating a a massive streeet parade next Saturday, and when I say massive I mean massive, last year we came home before it ended and we hade been there for over 3 hours!!!!!  Last night the band were meant to be on at 11pm , but this being Spain, manaña, manaña, it was about 12.40 and we didn,t get home until well after 2am.  They were on in the school playground and all the families were there and the tiny kiddies were full of life and dancing away to the music.  They do everything late at night here because it is too hot during the day and early evening, it,s their way of life but still seems a little strange to us, going out at 10.45pm.  Next Friday it will be the same again as a 'Queen' tribute band is on and Queen are my fave so we will definately be going to that.  Tonight there is a homemade car/gocart push on the hills at the top of the village so we are going to watch that as we didn,t see it last year.

Anyway onto todays card, and it,s back to parchment.  I did this one a while ago and it is very quick and easy, not alot of embossing, but I think it looks great.
The pattern was for a baby card as the sentiment reads 'Just Droping in to  Welcome the New Arrival' but I think it could be made for a general birthday card too.  It is a DL size.  Coloured with pencils on the reverse. Mounted onto purple card

Pearlised base card folded as shown.
Silver card layers.
Nellie Snellen heart dies.
Peeloffs
Swirls
