About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Sshhhh Quiet

Good Morning All
Boy, was it hot yesterday.
We walked to the next village to have Sunday lunch, which was yummy, and we were melting when we got back. It is meant to be staying the same this week, even the wind is hot.
*****
I was been beavering away last week on a Quiet Book.  I had never heard of these until afew months ago when Megan asked me if it would be possible to make one for Noah.  I researched them and some sell for quite alot of money, probably because they are so  time consuming to make.

When I was in UK in  May, my sister had started making one for Noah and when I saw it I was blown away, so lovely and such fun.
So when I got back to Spain in May, I decided I was going to have a go.
My old sewing machine had to go, tension was rubbish on it. So I researched a new one and managed to find one on EBay and have it posted here, great.

This is the front which I have yet to decorate, I am going to stick letters on,
either
BUSY BOOK or QUIET BOOK

This was the best way I could think to fasten it.  Also , with this it can expand if I decide to add more pages.

It is mostly sewed with felt  and far from perfect but I am so pleased with it.

These two are the first pages I made.  Counting from 1 to 20, the beads slide across the ribbon or string.
This is a good way of using beads that I maybe wouldn't use for much else.

As I have made pages I realise I should have done some things abit differently, but we all learn from our mistakes.

Teaching to tie shoe laces.

Matching colours and fastening buttons.

I will show a couple more pages another day, dont want to have a post so full of pics you get bored !!!!
*****

I would imagine Hollie will be playing with it when she visits in September.  If she really enjoys it I will let her take it home,  if they can carry it.
I am now making another one, either for Noah or Aurora, which I will take to UK in December on my Christmas visit.
There are so many different pages you can make, loads of ideas on Pinterest and You Tube, I just wanted to keep going with more pages.
This is keeping me busy as I have that many cards in my boxes upstairs, as the craft fair I did afew weeks ago was rubbish, I think I sold about 10 cards!!!!

Blue as the Ocean

Good Morning All
Allsorts challenge this week has been set by Helene and she want to see 'Blue as the Ocean' and by this, she means either water, ocean, boats or the colour blue.

I had already cut this lovely blue card with a Tonic die from Val at my craft meet (not sure which one it is, sorry).  I matted it onto a piece of LOTV paper and then gold card.  The sentiments are from a set I received with my new Cut N Boss.  I added some flowers, leaves and a feather, glittered the flowers and dotted liquid pearls around the sentiment and stuck some blue pearls in some of the dots on the diecut.

Sponsor this week is Stamp Addicts who will give a 10GBP voucher

Well I am out this afternoon helping my friend cleaning!!!!!
Am I daft or what, weather temps today are given to reach 36 to 40 degrees!!!!
Should help me lose some weight though, I will sweat it off. !!!!

Sewing for MAWTT

Good Morning All
Moving Along With The Times has got a theme of 'Sewing' this time and the host is Emily.

I found this clock in my stash and decided to use that, mounted on different shades of green card, did faux stitching around the middle one.  I thought the clock face would work well with 'Stitching'
'A Stitch In Time Saves Nine'
meaning
'A timely effort will prevent more work later'.

So true.

Matinee Jacket in White

Good Morning All
I made a matinee jacket for Aurora in lilac and Megan asked if I could do one in white and a larger size so that it would fit her through summer, so here it is.  A friend on mine is taking it back to UK on Friday night to post it for me.

HERE is the lilac one.

This is the little lady it is for.

Thanks for the visit and wishing you all a good day.

Stripes / Spots for CCC

Good Morning All
I,m doing a craft fair today, not sure how well it will do as it is in a very small, very Spanish village as part of their annual fiesta celebrations.  I was asked if I would help out with a stall and assured there will be quite afew English there, as I dont make Spanish cards, I dont have the call for them, even though I live here LOL. xxxxx

********

Creative Craft Cottage Challenge this time is Stripe / Spots.

I used this great image from one of the sponsors, coloured him with Promarkers.
The  papers are from an LOTV paper pad and mounted onto a shaped card.  I kept it  quite simple, by that I mean I did not add any embellishments.

Sponsors are
Rick St. Dennis

and
The Cutting Cafe

Use A Stamp

Good Morning All

The theme  at Allsorts Challenge is to Use a Stamp, no Digis allowed. and our host is Jo this week.

I used the Woodware 'Clear Magic Singles' stamp for this sentiment and heat embossed it in silver.

I cut into a piece of white card with Sue Wilson Gemini Cygnus die, stuck it onto double sided sticky and covered with dark pink glitter to show through the die cut, if you know what I mean.!!!!
Added ribbon, dazzler and homemade pearly pin.
Sponsor this week is Whimsy

Using stash

Good Morning All
It is my eldest boys birthday today, so Happy Birthday Lee, cant believe he is 36.

A couple of quick cards using decoupage from, I think, Docrafts.
All going to the charity and I am quite happy to use bits from my stash.

It's just as well I have the charities to give my cards to, otherwise I would have boxes and boxes of cards.
I craft everyday near enough and so pleased I have an outlet for it.

I,m sure you are all the same, but I dont think I would have to buy anything else for years and years,  except glue and tape, and I would still be able to craft every day!!!!!!

Art Deco ???

Good Morning All
A couple of cards using the same image.  Linda (Animal Aid) give me lots of stuff to see if I can use to make cards and this was some of it.

Do you call it Art Deco??

Not quite my cup of tea but I cannot throw anything out and I have learnt in the past that some cards that I dont like, others do.  So when Linda gives me anything I always make some cards with it and give them back to her for her to sell and raise money to help the animals.

Anything she does give me and I know I will never use, I give to the local junior school in the hope that they may be able to use it.

To The Happy Couple

Good Morning All
Moving Along With The Times Challenge this time is hosted by Gail, and she has chosen the theme of 'To The Happy Couple' so perfect for these Wedding Cards.

I was asked to make one for Linda from Animal Aid (the charity I give  my cards to ).
The receptionist at the local vets, where Linda takes her animals to, is getting married this month and Linda wanted a lovely card for her, something special.
I always make two cards when people ask me to make one and here is the two I came up with.

I use this Marianne die alot, LR 02036, which forms the main part of both of these cards.  The reason they are both lilac is that the invitation that Linda showed me, is purple and lilac, so I kept with that colour theme.

I also made a box for it too.

Re-use Birthday cards

Good Morning All
Getting so hot here now, we have even discussed about moving the bed so that it is directly under the ceiling fan.  Yesterday was 30º at 11am, definitely pool time, I did have my first dip of the year last week.
******
I wanted to show you these two cards I have recycled from my gorgeous Birthday cards HERE that Lyn and Val gave to me.
When anyone gives me  a handmade card I cannot throw out so I have to rehash it into a card for the charities.

This is the one Lyn gave me, so gorgeous.
She had printed a sentiment personal to me so I removed that and cut a X Cut doily to replace it with.  I think the die Lyn has used is a Tonic.  I found some peach coloured card in my stash, very similar in colour to what Lyn has used, to mount the doily on.  I re stuck the butterfly to act as the stopper for the easel and voila, a gorgeous card to raise some money for the charity !!!

This is one Val gave me, I just took the lacey top off and re-mounted onto white card and that was it.
Added a ribbon and pin, so beautiful.
I have two very talented friends.

Flowers

Good Morning All
Just a quick message before I get onto today's challenge.  If any of you know Val from Spain, she does comment on some of your blogs, she has had an operation on her eye to repair a hole in it (called a molecular something (I cant remember full name)) and she is partially blind in her other eye anyway, so she cannot visit any of us until further notice.  She had the op on Friday morning and they also found a tear in her retina too so they had to repair that also.  Now she has to lie face down for afew weeks which is not easy.
**************
The challenge theme this fortnight at Creative Craft Cottage is 'Flowers' and I used this lovely digi from our sponsor.

I used a lovely Sheena Douglas embossing folder that I got free with my Cut N Boss from Create & Craft that my OH has bought me for my Birthday  afew weeks ago, the deal was so good and they posted to Spain for 9.99 too.  I was abit dubious about ordering after the trouble I had last year with them, but it was all good and it was delivered within 10 days.
I coloured the digi with Promarkers and decorated with flowers, pearls, bead pin, ribbon and the leaf die is one borrowed from Val.

I decorated the inside too.

We have a couple of sponsors this week.

Satin & Lace

Good Morning All
It is my turn to host the Challenge this week at Allsorts and I want to see Satin & Lace.

I made a box to hold some shop bought cards that I was given, some were too good to cut up so I thought I would make some open boxes.  Some I shall give to Linda from Animal Aid, to use as raffle prizes and some I shall take to a craft fair I am doing on 21st June in a nearby village.

I used good thick card from Lidl, paper from My Minds Eye, satin green ribbon and cream lace.  A couple of flowers made from the same paper with buttons for the centres.

I have put 20 cards in the box so someone will get a bargain.

When anyone gives me cards, either used or new, I always try to re-cycle them or I will cut the backs off if they are plain, and use  for embossing on my cards.  My regular followers know I cannot throw anything away.
When I do the craft fair I am taking some of my ols stash that I never use and will try to sell it off, just to get rid of it.

Purple Birthday

Good Morning All

I made this card using a die I got within the package with my Cut N Boss.  It is a Cupcake wrapper but I used  it on this card.

I was asked to make a 60th Birthday card for a lady at my slimming class and this is the one she chose.
The stamped sentiment is from Hobbyhouse, paper is 'My Minds Eye'.
The gorgeous purple butterflies are from my local China store and I stuck them onto acetate and cut them out.

Hope you have a good day.

Use Your Dies

Good Morning All
Ladybug Crafts Challenge this month is 'Use Your Dies'.

I used Marianne Large Butterfly and Small Butterfly dies,  Sue Wilson California Collection for the sentiment and Bevelled Glass Striplet for the main part.
Homemade bead pins with a sticky gem flourish from Zva Creatives. I made the felt flower after watching a Sue Wilson You tube video.
I hope you like it and will pop over to the challenge blog and have a go yourselves.
