About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Same but different

Good Morning All

As you know, whenever I go away I always take some sort of crafting to do, very often, scissors and decoupage.  Then when I get home they go in my 'Topper' box.
Wwell I have been trying to use afew and here they are and a couple more tomorrow.
The decoupage is all off one sheet and some are quite small.

So I used quite strong paper for the small ones.

I will show a couple more tomorrow.

English Country Garden for MAWTT

Good Morning All

I,m like a kid waiting for Christmas, Hollie, Tess, Rick and Lorien arrive tomorrow night. They land about 10pm, so it will be two tired little girls I think.
We skyped last night and Hollie asked if we could craft every day!!!!!!
***********((

MAWTT challenge time again and it is hosted by our lovely Ang, aka Mrs Duck.
The theme she has chosen is English Country Garden.
Once again I had to go to my LOTV Toppers, they never fail to let me down, there is always something to fit the theme.
This, I thought, was very typically English Country Garden - Having a afternoon tea in the garden (when weather  allows!!!) which I think it does at present, although abit hot here for sitting out, only in the shade, by the pool with a large B & C in hand!!!!!

I used a negative from S/B Scalloped Ornate Ovals to frame the topper.
Inked with CE Frosty Blossom Colour Cloud.
All mounted onto a piece of Hunkydory card.
And, of course, a couple of my tiny butterflies!!!

The gem on the seam binding bow is available on my Facebook Page - Wendys Crafty Crafts.

I hope you will pop over and join us with Ang's challenge.

Food for Allsorts

Good Morning All
Allsorts Challenge this week is chosen by me.
Food Glorious Food.
Not far from where I live is a road called the Lemon Tree and all along is citrus groves filled with Lemon Trees.
So when I cut this decoupage out it reminded me of driving along there and seeing all the lemons.
The papers are from a Docrafts pack which I thought was suitable as they have apples and Blackberries on.

I thought this little bucket charm was so cute.

Strawberries & Cream

Good Morning All

We had a great craft meet yesterday, I showed some of the girls Book Folding and I think they may be hooked too. Some of you may want to know where I bought the patterns from.  A lovely lady on Etsy called Patterns for Pages and she will make a pattern for you too.
****************
Mervi has set the theme this week over at Allsorts Challenge and it is 'Strawberries & Cream'.

I was trying to find an image with Strawberries on but couldn't so I went for the colour theme instead.
Paper is from LOTV pad and matches the decoupage perfectly.  The card blank is one Linda gave me and I stuck some of the same paper behind the apertures.

Using stash

Good Morning All
It is my eldest boys birthday today, so Happy Birthday Lee, cant believe he is 36.

A couple of quick cards using decoupage from, I think, Docrafts.
All going to the charity and I am quite happy to use bits from my stash.

It's just as well I have the charities to give my cards to, otherwise I would have boxes and boxes of cards.
I craft everyday near enough and so pleased I have an outlet for it.

I,m sure you are all the same, but I dont think I would have to buy anything else for years and years,  except glue and tape, and I would still be able to craft every day!!!!!!

Humphrey

Good Morning All
These cards have been in my file for ages so I thought I would show them to you.

They are both Humphrey decoupage from Crafters Companion.
Very quick, easy cards and ideal for kiddie cards.  I dont make alot of children's cards, or 'man' cards either, I really must get onto this as I am doing a craft fair in June and need to get the boxes filled up.

Window card

Good Morning All
I made this card ages ago, it was for a DT but the Challenge blog finished before this challenge was released.

The original challenge was to use Peeloffs, now I know many of you hate them, it was a standing joke between John Next Door and I. (he hates them with a vengeance).  I still have a shoe box full and cannot throw them out and do still use them on many cards.
So you can see, this one used quite alot.

I created an aperture and lined with acetate to create a window effect and put peeloffs on the front.
A decoupage image of gifts inside and more peeloffs to frame it.

Cupcake

Good Morning All

Another scheduled post.

I was asked to make this by a lady who lives near us, for her Daughter who makes Cupcakes.

I was given a load of stuff by one of John Next Doors customers and this cupcake decoupage from C&C was amongst it.  I embellished it with gems and pearls.  Last bit of paper from C&C years ago.

Use Your Dies

Good Morning All

Allsorts Challenge this week is 'Use Your Dies' so I,m sure this will be a really busy one.

I have made a wall hanger using Spellbinders Hexagon dies and the label is an X Cut.

All mounted onto wide white satin ribbon with a thinner pink one, interspersed with Mei Flower ribbon bows.

I stamped a sentiment onto the  X cut label and tied twine through the holes.

I have had this blue hydrangea decoupage in stash for years and thought it would go well on this creation.

The cameo on the bottom is an item I got in some blog candy.

I hope you like it and will pop along to the challenge blog to have a go at this one..

Sponsors this week are --

Merry Christmas

Good Morning All

I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and hope you all have a wonderful festive season.

It is a hinged style card with an acetate window.

There is a Dufex decoupage butterfly image behind the window.

The flowers are Cheery Lynn Roses dies cut from shades of yellow card
and
Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms cut from the pages of an old book and inked on the edges.

The green leaf is from a pack of die cuts I bought on Ebay.

This shows the inside, I stuck the borders from the decoupage pack onto the inside folds.

And, finally, a satin ribbon tied into a bow and stuck down with heart shaped pearl.

                                                                         *************************
We walked down to the village square last night to view the Nativity Scene they put up each year.  It is a working scene about 8ft x 8ft and is lit inside, by this I mean the fires are lights and the water wheel goes round and the shepherd  moves his spade etc etc.

It is all behind mesh to protect it.

They have done away with alot of the lights through the village this year because of cut backs, but I'm so glad they have kept the Nativity Scene.

In the square where this is, they have the New Year Celebrations at midnight on 31st.  There is a Spanish tradition of 12 grapes. ------

When it is midnight in Spain on New Years Eve, each time the clock chimes, all the people put a grape in their mouth. By the time the clock has finished chiming for the twelfth time, everybody has to have finished their grapes and the New Year starts.

Eating the grapes is very funny because everybody starts the New Year with a full mouthful of grapes. It's almost impossible to finish eating the grapes by the time the clock finishes chiming and quite often people still have all the grapes in their mouths, and they start looking at each other and have to laugh.
If you manage to eat the 12 grapes then you will have 12 months good luck.

Flowers

Good Morning All

A busy day today as I have my 'fat club' and then it is our Spanish Christmas lunch and also MIL here at the moment to keep J. company while I,m in UK. (Going Sunday Whoopeeeeeee.)
More decoupage today.  Do you ever make a card and really, really like it.  I did with this one.

I have had this die cut decoupage for years and I needed some 'Get Well'  and  'Sympathy' cards for my charities so I am using alot of flower decoupage.

I made a hinged card and the pink card used for matting is a recycled birthday card (people give me their old cards and I recycle them by using the plain coloured card to emboss or mat and layer.)

The heart paper been in stash for years, I think it was free in Cardmaking Magazine.

The leaf die is Marianne Creatables CR 1253.

Stamped sentiment onto a pink label die cut and tied twine through the holes.

Feed The Birds

Good Morning All
Happy Sunday to you all.  It has been mentioned about John and I's Sunday Mojo coming back and I will talk to him this week about it.

I have done a couple of cards using one decoupage from Joanna Sheen.  This is to combat the postage costs, instead of having four or five layers I make two images from one set that are only two or three layers each.

Hope you like them.

Just wanted to share a couple of pics of Hollie

Her Mum cant wait for her hair to grow more so that she can put slides and ribbons etc in it.  It's getting there.

This one was taken at  a wedding.

She has just started walking and had her new shoes on.  When we Skyped, the day she got them, as soon as she saw me on the screen, she pointed to her feet and held her foot upto the screen.

It is only about 8 weeks now until my new Grandson is due, wow, how time flies.

Another Gruffies

Good Morning All
I have another Gruffies here for you to look at.  When I am cutting out, because I dont want to build the decoupage too high (because of postage costs) I make two images from the one set, if you know what I mean.
Sorry for all the shadow on the picture but it has been very sunny here and I cant close it out!!!  (I,m going to have to have lessons from John Next Door).
I have put an acetate front on this, so basically it is an easel card but with an acetate wrap around.  This was made for a friend of a friend who asked me to make it for her sister.  Here is the other half of the  Gruffies image  I made the other day.
Have a lovely weekend all and join me and John on Sunday for our Sunday Mojo for abit of news we will share with you.

Lots of Pinks

Good Evening All
I made this card for a couple of challenges.  Dont you just love those feathers?  I was given them by Linda (Animal Aid) afew days ago, along with more paper and other bits for crafting.  The image is a decoupaged Duflex hedgehogs (cute) but it doesn,t show very well on the pic.
I used old paper matted onto pink card, gems, homemade pearl pin, Marianne butterfly dies, satin ribbon wrapped around strips of paper and card, Cheery Lynn corner die, X Cut corner punch, Spellbinder Hexagon die and homemade crochet flower.

Close up of flower, I stuck a butterfly witha gem on the middle of it.
