About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Happy Sunday & Challenge

Good Morning All

Here is my card for my Sketch Challenge this week.
The topper is from a Hunkydory kit and the papers from Joanna Sheen.

Here is the sketch to follow.

*****************
The gifts I gave out at Craft Club on Friday were sweets, some Smarties and some Wine Gums.

******************
My Groovi Workshop went very well on Tuesday and all the ladies signed up for the next one in two weeks time.
I had three Groovi virgins and they all bought the starting tools needed so that was good for the shop too.

****************
My challenge from last week was to
Make Your Own Background.
My card using weaved strips of card.

Jennifer weaved strips

Claire used Torn glitter paper

Val J Glitter

Lynn J used a knitted square

Denise used sprinkled glitter

Men to Boys for Allsorts

Good Morning All

Allsorts Challenge time again and Tracy has chosen the theme of
Men to Boys
Back in June, Lily of the Valley were selling their digis half price in their Etsy store, so I bought a load of Men / Boy ones to cover most men's hobbies.
I printed one sheet off to test it out, the images were only small as there were 8 on a sheet.
I made these two cards with some of them.

There is a prize of these stamp sets

Wedding / Anniversary for MAWTT

Good Morning All

Moving Along With The Times Challenge this time is hosted by Caz with Team B, and the theme is

Wedding or Anniversary.

I made a card using various Groovi Plates.
I used one of Clarity corner punches to hold the parchment in place instead of brads.

I added two heart shaped buttons to the corner with narrow Organza ribbon.

A beautiful card I think.

I have decided to step down as team leader  and Diane is taking the challenge blog over.
I will stay on the DT for the time being.
THANK you all and to both teams.

Groovi Workshoop

Good Morning All

Today, I am holding a Groovi Workshop in my local craft shop.
I am abit nervous as there will be  varying levels of work I think as some of the ladies already do a little Groovi and I know one has done parchment work in the past and I think a couple are total newbies.

I pulled these 3 cards from my files.

I love this one, the rocking horse is done separately and stuck on with foam pads.

This one needs a sentiment adding but this was just a quick doodle with a new plate when I bought it.

I will let you know how it goes next time.

Happy Sunday

Good Morning All

********
The challenge this week is
To make your own background - Weaving, Inking, Stamping.
I made mine by weaving some narrow strips of leftover card, far too pretty to throw in the bin.
I made a frame with CE Pierced squares and cut the LOTV topper with CE Pierced Ovals.
Added a circle sentiment onto a scalloped circle.

********************
The gifts I gave out on Friday at my Craft Club were Gem Pencils.
I have given these before but I think it is handy to have afew!!!.

**********************************************************
Onto last weeks Sketch challenge.

My card

Eve made 2.

Denise

Nancy

Val J

Claire
And it was Eve's name pulled out so , although she wasn't at club on Friday, she will receive her little gift next week.
*************

Sadly Val C could not participate this time as she and OH and dogs were evacuated on Thursday during the Gota Fria and could not return home for 5 nights.
Luckily, the house was not flooded but they lost their brand new, 2 day old car. so now they have no transport and we have heard that insurance for cars will not pay out as it was an Act of God!!!!!!!!

As you can imagine, there is not a hire card to be had in the area of so much devastation.

Enjoy your day

Trees / Leaves for Allsorts

Good Morning All

Allsorts Challenge this week is

Leaves and / or Trees

I used a three layer stamp from Clarity called Oak Tree.
And I must say it is the first time I had used this type of stamp before and I loved it.
I bought it back in July in the Clarity members sale, 50% off.
Even with the stamping platform, it was very easy to line up each layer.
The middle part of the trees is green but does not show up on the photo.
I kept it fairly simple, just layers really

Then I decided to add a leaf charm to the ribbon.

A Birthday Book

Good Morning All

I made this Birthday book  as a  gift for Christmas for someone, maybe a Craft Club member.
This is the front.
I used a cereal box and covered it  using 2  12 x 12 paper.
Cut out the letters with an X Cut die and the heart is from a my Craft Club die box.

This is the spine with afew dangle charms added.
The inside is a waterfall design with a flip for each month.
I added afew decorated paperclips for added interest.

I think these are very handy for keeping track of Birthdays.

I use one in a similar vein,
I write in pencil then I can rub out at the end of the year.
I tick when I have made the card then add a note when I have posted it or left at my sisters in Uk for her to post for me.

Hope you like  it , what do you think!

Groovi

Good Morning All

Some of you may have seen these cards on Facebook already as I have been using them to advertise my Groovi Workshop that I am doing at my local Craft Shop.
I am trying to clear my files out on my laptop too  as there are some cards in there that I made quite a while ago.

This one I have put Clarity designer paper behind it and the Groovi work is in two layers,
coloured fancy border and plain for the flowers and coloured with watercolours.

This one is just plain whitework matted onto designer paper too.

And this one is very similar to the first on plain orange card.

Have a good day.
***************
A little update on things here.
Almoradi, Algorfa and Dolores andparts of Catral (Where Val C lives), plus now, Las Heredades are now under water as the river burst its banks in another place on Sunday.
There are appeals going out for bottled water, food, furniture, bedding, toiletries etc.
My friend is stuck in Dolores, luckily the house is up afew steps so dry in the house but surrounded by water outside and cant get out of the village.
Yesterday they donned their wellies and went for a walk around to see how bad things were and the Guardia Civil, told them off and to go back home and stay indoors.
They even sent Baguettes around with filling for those that needed food.
Everyone is pulling together in a disaster.
Sady most of the kennels and Horse care places have been really badly affected as they are all out in the country in low lying areas.
We have donated as they need washing machines and food for the animals.
So sad.
But of course some people take advantage and there are reports of peolpe going into homes that have been evacuated and helping themselves.
Only one word for these B*****DS.
We are all keeping our fingers crossed that Val C and Keith are OK as we cannot get contact with them.

Not so Happy Sunday

I hope you are all having a good weekend upto now.
Ours has not been too good as we were hit with the worst storms for 100 years on the Costa Blanca.
Horrendous for alot of people and then on Friday the Rio de Segura burst its banks and alot of villages and homes were flooded.
Sadly the kennels, rescue centres and Horse care centre were extremely badly affected.
In our village we have been quite lucky as we are higher up but the river runs along the bottom of the village.
Just drying out now and got lots of towels to wash as the were used to put against the doors and windows.

I have removed the video as it won't play,  sorry .
Here is a photo instead, roads not canals, this is at the side of our block.

**************
We were not able to have my craft club on Friday as Liz and Paul, the owners of the shop, live in one of the badly affected areas and were flooded.
So my challenge carries on for another week.
sketch to follow

Be Inspired by this picture.

Week 537

For my card I used a (at the time I made the card) a new stamp from Clarity
Bunch of Flowers and cut it out with my Picot edge Oval die.
Rooted out my old Marianne dies for the fences and the bird house and birds.
All mounted onto Pretty leafy paper and Kraft card
So from the inspiration picture I took - Fence - Flowers - new Home
