About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Basket of Apples

Good Afternoon All
We are getting ready to go on a short coach trip tomorrow for a couple of nights.  It is to a place called Marina D'or, which we have not heard of but there are quite afew Spanish people going so it will be good to practice our Spanish LOL.
I have just completed this card for a challenge at Sketch & Stash.
It is another Sarah Kay image coloured with Promarkers and cut out with Spellbinders scalloped Oval
Backing paper is Me to You 'Spring Chic'
Homemeade bead pin,  sentiment,  quilled flower and a ribbon rose described in an earlier post - this pale green satin ribbon is some I found in my old knitting/sewing box when I was having a clear out a while ago, I remember using some of it on baby cardigans when my boys were little (over 30 years ago)

Green Ribbon Flowers

Good Afternoon All
I just wanted to show you this card, which I think is very pretty but fairly clean and simple.
The ribbon roses were made from watching this brilliant tutorial from Reasonable Ribbon and if you have any questions they will get straight back to you.  I did because I was pulling the ribbon all the way through and the flower was coming undone, so the secret is not to pull all the way, (you will understand when you watch)
I just added afew gems and a border punch which I chalked and a sentiment and I think it makes a lovely card.

Home Bird

Good Morning All
Time for another challenge at Love to Create, and the theme is 'Things with Wings'.  I have used this sweet image from Meljens Designs called 'Bird Table' with 2 sweet little chickies sat on the roof.
I think it is a really sweet image and was good to colour using my Promarkers, I cut it out using a labels die from Spellbinders and inked the edges.
Paper is cut-offs from stash
Sentiments were freebies
Metal tag from USA
Ribbon and buttons from stash too

Meljens will give the winner 4 of their digital images, so you could have great fun with those because they have some great digis on their site.

Fancy Fold

Good Afternoon All
I,ve been busy this morning as my sister is coming over on Tuesday and I am really looking forward to it.
Todays card is a sort of concertina fold but it is a great way of using up bits of card and paper as you need quite afew small pieces to mat and layer.
It is also a great way to use lots of embellishments that you may have lying around.  I,ve used butterflies, ribbons, bows, flowers, sentiments etc etc.

Harvest Basket

Good Morning All
I,m going out with me Neighbours today, we are going to a shop I,ve not been to before  that sells all sorts of everything I think, it should be fun.
Todays card is one I finished yesterday, I was trying to think of a different way of folding my card blank and this is what I came up with.
This is the front and it looks like a normal Criss Cross card.
And this is what it looks like when it,s open
I used a 36 x 12cm cream card from my friend in the UK, folded it at 12 and 24cm, then scored  the fronts diagonally so that they folded back on themselves.
I used a Whimsey digi called Cornucopia, which I won on a challenge a while ago, and coloured it with Promarkers.
Two types of ribbon tied in a bow - organza and satin
Sunflowers were given to me by Linda (Animal Aid Charity)
Round Sentiment is a freebie on Jak Heath Blog
Pale green doily from USA years ago
Terracota and green card is Core-dinations
Spotty paper was given to me
Yellow gems on corners from stash
I really like this type of fold so I am using it alot on my Christmas cards.

Beary Christmas

Good Morning All, again
I would like to welcome my new followers and thanks for joining me.xxxxxx
I have got all my Christmas stuff out again so it's Christmas cards all the way now!!!!  And alot of them are going to be Forever Friends , as last year I bought a big pack of their decoupage and papers etc.
I found this piece of mirri card in the box and I had already  embossed  it using a Glitter Girls board so I thought I would use it up.   Everything else is FF products except red elasticated twine (China Bazaar) and white card embossed with Cuttlebug 'Swiss Dots' folder.

Sassy Cassie

Good Morning All

Wow how the weeks are flying by.  I have no sooner done my card for Love to Create and it is time for the next one, I love it.
We are sponsored this week by Sassy Studio Designs who will give 1 winner, 2 of their designs.  And the theme is 'Use Ribbon or Twine' so that's nice and easy isn't it?
For my card, I have chosen a Sassy image 'Cassie'.  I love colouring these images, they are very fine but so sassy.

I have used a piece of my 12 x 36cm cream card folded into a gatefold
Image coloured with Promarkers and mounted on Core-dinations card and distressed the edges
Papermania papers and flowers and brads and pearls (from May goodie bag)
Homemade pins and sentiment
The twine I have used - I bought this with John (next door)
when we went to craft shop but it was closed, so we went to a China Bazaar (there are loads of them here and you can buy allsorts) we saw this in the wool box and bought one between us. It is different shades of beige.  The blue twine was what was wrapped around the wool to keep it together, (I dont waste anything!!!!)

Have fun with this great easy challenge.

Waste Not

Good Morning All
I made this card using the packaging from a Kanban Quilling tool that I bought whilst in UK (I broke one of mine).  I just thought that the black card with grey swirls looked lovely so here it is.
Simply mounted onto an A& deckled edged card blank
Peel off lilac butterflies stuck onto acetate and cut out to make them 3D
Zva Creations pearl swirl
Peeloff coloured in lilac
Pale organza ribbon
A very simple, very quick card
I hope Naomi (Creative Bug on the Loose) sees this xxxxxx.  Naomi is a friend I have made through blogging and she wants to start quilling so I bought her one  of these tools and posted it to her while I was in UK.  I cant wait to see  her creations.

Framed

Good Afternoon all
Afew weeks ago, I was given a photo frame by John (Next door) and he challenged me to change it, make it different and he would do the same with one.  It measures about 8 x 8" and has a verse about Mum on it.

I stripped all the pink roses paper and verse off it and stuck some different pink paper on, cut the aperture out but I made a mess of it and had to think of a way to cover it, so I cut scalloped circle with Cuttlebug.  Then, literally, went to town on the pretty embellishments - Marianne Butterflies die (with Anita 3D glossy on) - Quilled flower - Organza Ribbon (from some card blanks I bought in The Works UK) - Corners (Papermania) - Gem and Buttons.

And of course , my gorgeous Grand Daughter Hollie Anais fast asleep in her moses basket.  So this now stands with pride of place on my coffee table in my craft room.
I will try to get a pic of Johns to show you the vast difference in our styles. And here it is---
Our styles are so different as you can see.

Good Morning All
We had a lovely evening last night, a BBQ with neighbours, lots of chat and food and drink.  We used to do this every Saturday last year but our friend had an accident with a chip pan in December and badly burnt his chest so he is not as comfortable with a shirt on and is still in alot of pain.  It was lovely to do it again, great fun.
Todays card is to show you the flowers made with my new Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms dies using felt.
A6 card blank
2 frames cut from Nellie Snellen dies MFD600
Sentiment printed on computer
Margaret Sherry Teddy transfer (I am trying to use old stuff and I have had these for years)

I used a 12 x 36cm cream card scored at 12cm intervals and cut diagonally on each front
Everything is from stash except for the Forever Friends Baby Stamp which I bought on sale in UK.
