About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

1st Cut & Fold

Good Morning All
I have done my 1st Cut & Fold book.
Once again, I had looked at these and thought they looked too complicated.
But I took the bull by the horns, and found a free pattern on my Book Folding Group on Facebook.
And here it is.

Very pleased with it and it wasn't as hard as I thought.
I,m doing a more complicated one now and will show it when completed.

Catrina Book Fold

Good Morning All
Wow, I had to do some cleaning up yesterday.  The wind and rain hit during Sunday night and I got up on Monday to  -----
The outside sofa had gone down the block as had 2 planters with cacti in, they had emptied their contents along the way, so soil and stones all over the place.
Rain had come in the front windows in my craft  room and the curtains are were wet and the side window in the utility room so all my washing powder is wet.
I knew I should not have had the windows cleaned!!!!!
******
Another Book Fold to show you today.
I was asked to make this by a customer at the bar where I show my books.

I really enjoy making the flowers for all the books too.
The top ones are called Kusadama and the big gems I have are perfect for the centres, too big for cards but great for these.

Book Folding 2 Liner

Good Morning All

Back to book folding for this post.

I was asked to make this 2 liner by a lady that I used to see at Spanish classes.  Her niece was getting married and she wanted to give this to her as an unusual gift.

This features flowers, hearts, ribbon and gems.

I was very pleased with it and she was too.

I left the title of the book showing as I thought it was very apt for a wedding.
It is Honor Thyself by Danielle Steele.
I love reading her books.

I do go from one extreme to the other, this is my light reading, love and romance then I go to James Patterson, Val McDermid, Karin Slaughter, Michael Connolly to name afew.

I have been asked for a link to the Etsy shop I used for a custom made pattern.
It is Patterns for Pages.  HERE

Friend

Good Morning All
This is a book fold I completed a while ago.
The pattern was bought from Etsy, Patterns for Pages HERE, the owner is very helpful and will make a custom pattern for you.  She made 'Hollie' for me which I am going to fold when I go back to UK in December, and  I will  leave it there for her to put in her bedroom.

I am very pleased with how this one turned out, a lovely fold and I am happy with the decorating too.

This has just been taken off my hands and gone to a good home.

I love making the flowers from pages I have to remove from some books, nothing goes to waste in this house !!!!!

2 Liner on Book Folding

Good Morning All
I have done a couple of 2 liner on my Book Folding, this was my first one to practice.

The first pic is without any decoration and this one I have inked the first name, added afew flowers and ribbon.

Mandy and Andy are friends of ours and they run a business in our village selling cars, so this takes pride of place in their showroom.

Sweet 16

Good Morning All

Still on with the book folding.
This was a test pattern for a lady on Face Book, very pleased with how it turned out.
This is it before I decorated.

And this is it once I had added afew bits and backing paper.

I am into making these Kudusama flowers too
(the pointy one on top of the book)
HERE on You Tube
There are numerous ones but I just picked this one.

My local bar, where we do our craft meet, has cleared a shelf for me to display some of my books, so hopefully, I may sell afew or get orders.

Book Fold 'Love' and '21'

Good Morning All

It is still so very hot here so I h ave not been doing much in the craft  room, preferring to stay in the living room with AC on.
So I have been doing more book folding, just going in craft room to decorate them and then I have to put fan on full blast.

I showed this fold HERE first and this is how I have decorated it.

Another one I have tested for a lady on Face Book.

You can see the difference here, when you squash the book together more.

And this is it decorated .

Hope you like them.
I have got quite afew more ready to decorate.

Book Folding Sister

Good Morning All
Hope you are having a good week.
I have been Book Folding again, I have joined a group on Facebook, dedicated to this art, and some of the ladies design patterns and ask for volunteers to try them out, and this one of them.

The pattern was designed by Hayley Whytock and her Etsy shop is HERE

I inked the edges of the pages first.

Then I covered the front and back with
My Minds Eye paper and stuck pink Glitter paper on inside covers.

Some of the books I have have a red line across the pages as they are bought from the local card shop, and they will exchange them, so they mark them. So I had t think of a way of covering the red line.

I bought this pretty pink leafy ribbon at local China store for 95 cents a roll, very pretty isn't it?  It sort of holds the book together.  I added a couple of parchment flowers and a butterfly on the top.  All stuck on with glue gun.

I,m really pleased with how this has turned out and now the problem I have, is which Sister to give it to !!!!!!

Watch out as I have volunteered for another pattern of a TRAIN, part done as I write this, so will post when complete.  I have also decorated the book 'Love' I showed yesterday, so I will show that another day.  And the heart within a heart I showed yesterday, I decorated up and gave it to my friend here in Spain, she posted it on Facebook HERE.

Inverted Heart Book Fold

Good Morning All
Finally getting back to normal after OH kids were here, a busy week and far too much food and drink.
******

I have bought afew patterns  from a lovely lady that sells on Etsy, her shop is called Patterns for Pages HERE and she is very helpful and will design patterns for you for just 2.50 GBP.
She has done Hollie for me and I am going to do it, obviously, for Hollie for her bedroom.  Trouble is, I need a big book over 580 pages, I found a Jilly Cooper one at the charity shop, but not quite suitable, alot of 'f' words and 'sex', if you have ever read any of hers !!!!!
I have just completed 'Mum' which I will show another day.
You Tube HERE is a good tutorial too.
These are both her patterns. What do you think?

Book Folding 3 Hearts

Good Morning All
An extra post from me as I usually post every other day.  I was so pleased with my first completed Book Folding I just had to show it off.

This was one I made for a practice yesterday when I came home from craft meet, I used a paperback..  We were talking about the books and dvd's available on C&C and I said I would Google it to see if I could find a free pattern just to try it.
HERE is the link of the pattern I used for free from a very kind lady.

I was so pleased with the result, I went upstairs to my bookcase to see if I could find a hardback book to use.
I found a Sharron Osbourne Biography I have already read, so decided to use that,
I worked out how many pages I needed and it worked out very close to 5 hearts, just had to cut a afew pages from the back.

I inked all the edges with  purple.

I covered the back and front with My Minds Eye paper.  Cut a cereal box up for the base and covered that too.

Then onto embellishments, a big bow from my birthday flowers, with some brown ribbon John Next Door gave me and a big dazzler in the middle.

Lots of flowers from my stash, paper, ceramic and fabric.

Ribbon with Lace across the bottom.

I ties some of the brown ribbon around the top and decorated with flowers and a bow, then stuck a gem butterfly on the edge of the pages.

I secured the book onto the base by cutting an 'L' shape piece of card and glueing it on before I covered with paper, then put the upstanding bit of the 'L' up the spine of the book.  I didn't glue it down but it will help secure abit.

When I showed OH, he said, whats that for ? !!!
It now adorns my hall table and I like it so there.
I have to keep it as being Sharron Osbournes book there is lots of 'F' words, so I cant really give it to anyone !!!!!
Now I am on the hunt for more patterns, found afew but want to make words or letters, there is tutorials for 'photoshop' but I have downloaded a free trial but cannot figure out how to use, not technically minded at all.
I will have to buy the book or DVD's.
