About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

JND Stamp

 Good Morning All

One of my Journal Class ladies sent a bag of goodies for me and inside there was one of Johns Magazines with the Stamp set,  Die

and Emboss folder still with it unused!

So I had a play with the stamp set first.

I used the largest stamp on these two cards.

This is the centre spread of the journal I showed on Wednesdays post and I used the tiniest 2 stamps on the belly bands holding the tiny notelets in place.

Even though I am trying to destash my stash I cant refuse a gift now can I   ????

Butterflies & Bugs for Allsorts

 Good Morning All

It is my turn to host Allsorts Challenge this week and I went with

Butterflies & Bugs

I had this large layered butterfly on my desk so I thought I would make that the focal point.

Once again, I used an Oxide background which I had spritzed with water to make it abit blotchy.

I also had the Parchment circle on my desk too and thought that would match.

I stuck  the butterfly on and added cheesecloth under it.

Then stamped some tiny bugs, dragonflies and butterflies from a couple of Johns (JND) early stamp sets.

2 prizes on offer this week
2 prizes, a Woodware stamp and Tattered Lace die

******
I have a reminder of the River of Creativity Challenge

Parent & Child
I have used another Humphrey image,  doily and gingham, very similar to my 1st card on 5th June for the theme.

Painting & Junk Journal Winner

Good Morning All

Winner of Junk Journal

I put everyone's name on pieces of paper, there was 19 - 6 on Facebook and 13 on here

Winner is Karen L, who was on Facebook so I will duplicate this over there.

Thank you to all.
*****************************

As you know I have been doing abit of painting with a cheap set of Watercolours after seeing some ideas on Pinterest.
Here is afew cards I made at the weekend.
These cards are A6 size as I am filling a box for my Slimming group leader to use as a raffle prize.
They raise money for a very sick little girl in UK who needs treatment in Barcelona.

I love this one, I think it because of the stamp and of course, the butterflies.

And finally, this one.
Very similar to the first, but a sympathy card.

I have been doodling along with Barbara Gray from Clarity since the lockdown started.
So instead of having loose sheets of A4 paper, I decided to sew them all into signatures and make and ART / DOODLE Journal.
The cover was an old Readers Digest book so I decided to leave the green leather look instead of covering it.
I added a piece of paper I had splashed with watercolours, cut it to size to fit within the gold embossed lines.
I found these wooden butterflies in an embellishment box, heated embossed 3 times with copper powder, and stuck them on.
I will add some words at some point.

It keeps all my work neat and tidy and will use it for craft ideas too.

Now onto the winner of the JND Junk Journal

There were                comments on my blog post and                     comments on my Facebook page

Dried up Gilding Polish & Johns Crackers

Good Morning All

John (JND) launched his new faceted cracker die last week and wow, what a cracker it was.
Well I dont have it but I do have the one he released last year.
On Sunday I cut 22 of them ----Phewwwwww
and made them up, filled them with ????? (cant tell you) and decorated them with Johns Poinsettias from last year too.

I did buy the green glitter card for these but OMG was it a chore getting that to cut, so went with some 12 x 12 card I bought from Hobbycraft while I was visiting mums last week.
I think it was because the card is coated so does not die cut very well, so will use it for mats on my cards.
******
The poinsettias were made a couple of weeks ago at my Craft club.
I had been watching John on Hochanda when he launched the Mica Magic, as I dont have it I thought I would use my Mica Paints.
So I coloured afew A4 sheets with them and then stamped and cut out the poinsettias.

Then I thought about the Gilding Polish pots I had when I helped John out at Creative Expressions at Ally Pally afew years ago.
Well afew, infact, all but two had dried out, but as you know I hate throwing anything away, and as they are water based, I spritzed to revitalise them.

As the painting of the paper does not have to be perfect when you are die cutting, so I went to town and painted quite afew A4 sheets.

Look at the lovely sheen on them

It doesnt matter that there are streaks on some, you dont see it when they are die cut.

I may also use some of these for matting my parchment work on.

So if you have any dried up pots of Gilding Polish, get going with a water spritzer and make some backing papers.

As a result of making all these at my Craft club, a couple of ladies asked me to order Johns Poinsettia stamps and dies for them and, Friday, asked me to order the Mica Magic, which I am interested to see myself.

Johns Spring Flower Stamps

Good Morning All

We took Rico to the vets yesterday to have him clipped.
His fur had got so long and it is getting very warm here now.
I dont think it will be long until we change his walking times.
In Summer John took him out for a quick walk around the block in the afternoons and then we took him out for a longer walk at night when it has cooled off abit.

                                       From this                                                                       to this

************************

Onto  a card I made yesterday.
I had been playing with Izinks before I went to UK so I used a  piece of that.
I used  Johns stamp set Spring Flowers
then matted it onto some Embossed card.

JND Gerbera

Good Morning All

The Craft Club that I run here in Spain has had to move venues due to Paul closing the bar after the death of his partner last month.
Our new place is upstairs and I cannot keep the boxes there that I left at the other bar.
These boxes contained my Cuttlebug and Val J's  Grand Calibur, assortment of papers and card etc. etc.
All this stuff is far to heavy and too much for me to carry up the stairs so I have decided to choose just one set of dies and one set of stamps along with the Cuttlbug for the ladies to use.
This is what I am taking with me this Friday - JND Gerbera Stamp set and co-ordinating dies.
Some inks and a brayer.

These are some of the flowers I made.
This started as I was making a card for a DT project
(which I cant show yet obviously)

The three cards below are all using the negatives from the diecuts backed onto patterned paper.
All the same colour scheme and all the bits used from the sheets I started.
I use left over pieces of paper to decorate the inside of my cards now as I'm trying not to have any leftovers.
Any pieces that are too small I use for butterflies  and die cut labels for sentiments.

Spring Flowers or Showers for Allsorts

Good morning All

Allsorts Challenge this week is hosted by  Ellie and the theme is
Spring Flowers or Showers.
I got this stamp out of the packet and thought it was a daffodil, then realised it is a Camellia, as the title is Camellia Ring  Elements by John Lockwood.
I looked online and Camellias do flower in Spring, so that's OK.

I coloured the same colour as a daff.
The sentiment stamp is from the same set.
I heat embossed this with Copper powder.

The mini sentiment is from JND sentiment set.

A lovely prize on offer this week so pop over to challenge blog for details.

Flowers for Craft Rocket

Good Morning All

Last month when I was in UK I bought JND Gerbera die and stamps from the Ducks Doodahs,
(very quick delivery)
As I was playing with them when I got home, I thought this card was perfect for this challenge at Craft Rocket - Flowers.

I matted the negative from the die cutting onto an ombre green card.
Added large gems to the centres and used 4 of the die cuts, made into 2 flowers.
I added ribbon across the corners to hide the black ink.
(This is to line the die with the stamped images correctly.)
I added a Mothers Day sentiment as it was approaching the day at the time I made the card!!!
Added one of my dangle stick pins to the bottom bow.

John Lockwood, I love this die and stamp set
****
Rico went to be clipped yesterday, he looks loads better.
