About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Twisted Ribbon Flowers

Good Morning All

I did a swap on Facebook and received this ribbon flower amongst it.
I asked if she had made it but it was from a shop.
It was so pretty I decided to have go.

I have put a picture tutorial on the pages at the top of my blog.

This is one before a centre added

Here is the spotty one and the spots are only on one side of the ribbon but still looks good.

Poinsettias

Good Morning All

When I got my Christmas box out, ready to start my Christmas cards last month, I found these digis that I had already coloured.  I have tried to find out by looking in my files, whose they are but I can't, sorry.

As I have said previously, I have not bought any new stuff to  make Christmas cards with this year.

The circle sentiments are freebies from Netty HERE

When John next Door moved back to UK (Crikey was it last year or year before?) he gave me some paper pads that he didn't want.  He had tons and tons of papers and card!!!!  I have some more to show you another day, more Christmas ones.

Anyway, these papers are from one of the pads, it matched the Poinsettias perfectly.

All I had to do was add a bit of ribbon and embellishments and voila!!!

One lot of about 50 cards has gone to one charity this week and will get in touch with Linda to see when she wants hers for Animal Aid.

Cupcake Flowers

Good Morning All
Still feeling abit down after Hollie going home but we have MIL here and my Mum arrives n Saturday, so keeping busy.

Back into my craft room and trying to get it tidy and clearing alot of stuff.  Using alot  on my cards too, all odd bits and bobs.

I got this idea from a You Tube video HERE.
Quite easy, and I inked the edges and spritzed with water to try and make the ink run abit.

I will use these to decorate my book folds.

Flowers

Good Morning All
I forgot to write my post last night so this is abit rushed.  I have been making flowers again, different types.

I got a load of these dazzlers when I was in UK in January and I saw John Next Door use use a Sue Wilson flower die  HERE that looked like quilling, and he stuck one in the middle and it gave me the idea of using these large dazzlers and wrapping them with quilling paper.  The material one is scraps from my curtains.

And here is two very quick cards I  made with them.

I inked the edges of the paper to match the blue of the other bits.

And inked the edge of the material to tone in with the paper.

Just a different idea and gives me something ot do while watching TV at night!!!!!

Have a good weekend and see you tomorrow, Slim club to this morning so rushing abit.

Pretty Simple

Good Morning All
From reading afew blogs this morning it sounds like we have swapped places with the weather, we had rain and grey skies and it sounds like the UK is having sunshine and blue skies.

This is a very simple card and I thought it would suit as a Sympathy or just Hello card.

Marianne Butterfly, Spellbinders Blossom flower, I embossed white card on Cuttlebug matted onto cream.

Green

Good Morning All
I am on my way tomorrow to UK to be there for Mum and house sit and dog sit for one of my sisters.
So looking forward to it all, seeing everyone, especially Hollie and Noah, and Noahs Christening too.
I am taking laptop with me so will be keeping up with everything.

I really like this card, quite simple, but nice.

The flower is made following the tutorial at the page at the top of my blog.

A Little Bit Crafty - Flower Power

***********
We went for a really long walk yesterday at Guadamar and here are afew pics of the harbour.

This is where we keep the weekend Yacht!!!!!!

This looks like a heron keeping watch or maybe just waiting for a fish to swim by for his lunch.

This is the gateway to the harbour.  Below is as we walked round the harbour to the end where all the fisherman sit on the rocks and fish.  This is the view back towards the boat harbour.

Bits & Bobs

Good Morning All

I made this the last week, it came about because the sentiment/verse was originally an insert for a card and the edges had got all tatty as it had been in my stash for years.  So, as I dont like to waste anything, I thought I would make it the mainstay of a card.

Paper from Create & Craft years ago.
Shiny butterflies from Mei Flower.
Small green butterflies are pop outs from a Spellbinder 'Butterfly Circle die'
Flowers are Spellbinders 'Bitty Blossom' with pearls in the centres and inked on edges.
The leaves are from a batch I bought on Ebay - a mixed bag of die cuts.

Making Poinsettia Flower

Good Morning All
When I went to the craft class on Thursday and posted on here the flowers we had made, I was asked by afew people to show how they were made, so here goes.  HERE is the original post.

I used a LeCrea Multi Die 45.8961 Poinsettia, Olly used a Marianne die but I think you will get the same effect whichever one you use.

Once you have cut them out from good weight card.  I used at least a 270g one.  You can use as many pieces of the flower as you wish, I used 2 green and 3 red.  Spritz well with water  and leave to soak in.

This is the hard bit to explain --  Fold one petal over a wide tool or pencil, I used a glitter glue pen, hold the leaf over it with thumb and forefinger   (you have to sort of prop the pen against your tummy so that you can use both hands)   and the other hand put thumb and forefinger on edges of leaf and squish together so that it creases up, length ways, from centre to tip.

You have to press against the pen but push the edges together at the same time.

This is when, if you have used a card that is too thin, it may tear, but it does not matter if they tear abit, flowers are not perfect!!!

Leave to dry.  Mine dried very quickly as I had the fan on.  This is how they look when dried.

Please excuse the state of my embossing mat, it is covered with bits of glue as I use it all the time for flower making.

Then you need a large ball tool and an embossing mat or a mouse pad.  On the reverse of each petal, in small circular movement, rub over all the petal, do this on all petals on each flower, this breaks down the fibres in the card.

Then turn to right side facing up and rub in the centre so the petals start to curl up.

The one on the left has not been rubbed, you can see the difference to the one on the right which has.

Then proceed to glue together,
off setting each petal to the one underneath.

You dont want them directly on top of each other.

Each die set will have different centres,
I rubbed mine with ball tool to make it curl, stuck in centre and added gold Stickles.

Olly let us take any spare pieces of flowers so I took these Tim Holtz Tattered Florals.  These have been spritzed and squished  and below shows the flower I made with them.

I hope you can follow this OK, it is very difficult trying to show it on photos.  I had had a look on Youtube too to see if this technique is on there but I couldn't find one.
Tomorrow I will post some cards that I have made with the flowers from the class.

Circle Card

Good Afternoon all

My card today is a circle. I,ve made it for afew challenges I enter regularly.

I folded an A4 sheet of Pearlpale pink card, then drew a circle with my compass with a diameter of just under 6".  (Gosh, this is taking me back to my school days - what with compasses and diameters).  A Forever Friends peeloff stuck onto pink card and cut edges with scalloped scissors.  Put fancy white and silver doily inderneath edges and then just went to town on my embellishments - foam `Love` and ducks - Pin made from jewellery stash - die cut flowers from my NEW Marrianne dies - afew pearls - peeloff round the edge.

I would also like to thank my new followers too.

Tag

Good Evening all

Today I made a tag using a gorgeous freebie from Astrid Artistic Efforts blog.  She has some amazingly gorgeous freebies on her blog, she is one talented and generous lady.
I printed her sheet off and used one tag and one butterfly and decorated it with my own flowers and die cut swirls.  Ribbon and gems and bits off a peeloff sheet were added to bling it up.   I know tags are quite fashionable at the moment - over on Docrafts there is a tag swap.

I will use this to put on a card but I think it looks really good.  Let me know what you all think please.
