About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Mad for Embellishing

Good Morning All
Ladybug Crafts challenge this month was 'Mad for Embellishing', But Sarah seems to  have gone AWOL, but I will post this anyway

I added butterflies, the pink ones from Mei Flower, the silver ones punched from Dufex.  Parchment flowers with gem centres and a homemade sentiment tag with twine, and finally some square gems in the corner.  The big flower in the centre is a cut out one that I have had in stash for years !!!

Summer Crafting for Ladybug

Good Afternoon All
Blimey, three posts today, and this one is my DT for Ladybug Crafts.
Sorry it has worked out this way but I have tried to space them out.

Samantha wants your take on Summer Crafting, so, to me that really means anything so I chose this lovely paper from Marij Rahder 'Pot Pourri' with sunflowers.

The dies used were a freebie with my Cut N Boss called Classic Collection.  I used the corner die to make a frame.  The flowers were from my stash and I added gem centres.

Pop over to the challenge blog and have a go at this nice easy theme.

Special Birthday

Good Morning All
My second post today is for
this months challenge at Ladybug Crafts and it is a 'Special Birthday'.
I made this lovely card for a 60th Birthday.

I have used the Sue Wilson California Collection die for the centre piece and Friend sentiment.  The corners are Memory Box.  I found the lovely  leaf ribbon in the local China store.  The crackled look paper is from LOTV .  I'm quite pleased with how this one turned out.
Pop over to the blog and have a go at this challenge.

Use Your Dies

Good Morning All
Ladybug Crafts Challenge this month is 'Use Your Dies'.

I used Marianne Large Butterfly and Small Butterfly dies,  Sue Wilson California Collection for the sentiment and Bevelled Glass Striplet for the main part.
Homemade bead pins with a sticky gem flourish from Zva Creatives. I made the felt flower after watching a Sue Wilson You tube video.
I hope you like it and will pop over to the challenge blog and have a go yourselves.

Fave Colour for Ladybug Crafts

Good Morning All
Ladybug crafts challenge this month is to use your fave colour.

It is quite hard to choose my fave colour on a card, as when I make a card, I think that I love that colour, as I did with this one.  I do think peach and brown go well together, then again, I like pink and blue, pink and black, blue and white etc etc etc etc.
The brown corner die is one borrowed from a craft friend at our meeting so I,m not sure what it is, possibly a Tonic one, Val may be able t comment on this and tell me.
The butterfly is a Spellbinders I think, again it has been in my 'die cut' draw for ages, as has the stamped sentiment.  Bead pins and pearl hoops made by me.
I,m pleased with this card and hope you are too.

LADYBUG - Anything Goes

Good Morning All

Wow it is getting so hot here already, we have had temps of 25 to 30. And I am going to help a friend this morning cleaning 2 apartments, stupid or what for volunteering!!!!!
******
Ladybug Challenge is up and running again after Samantha had been unwell, she is back to fitness again.

The theme is Anything Goes and I made this ribbon weaved card.  It is similar to the one I made for Mothers Day HERE

I weaved the ribbon onto a  piece of card and taped the ends underneath, then mounted it onto a larger piece of card and did some faux stitching around the edges.  Added a crochet flower and added a flower brad for the centre.
I,m quite pleased with how this one turned out but it did use quite alot of ribbon, not that I haven't got alot to use  LOL !!!!!!!

Why not pop over to the challenge blog and join in.

Cute Critters

Good Morning All
I was a good girl while I was in UK and did NOT buy any crafty stuff, I am so determined to use alot of the stash I have.  I was given some though when I was with John Next Door at
Creative Expression HQ, so thank you to everyone there, especially Tracy.
*****
Cute Critters.
Just had an update and I,m not sure if there is going to be a challenge this month.

I used an LOTV topper featuring these cute bunnies.  The white lacy die cuts are part of a Tonic die that belongs to one of my craft buddies here in Spain so I cant count this one in my challenge.  All the rest is from stash.

Say It With Flowers

Good Morning All
And a Very Happy New Year to you all.
Say it with Flowers.

I used flowery Paper from a Kate Knight pad and topped it with a Tonic die cut owned by my craft buddy Val.
Decorated it with a Gem butterfly from local China shop, Cheery Lynn Roses, S/B Scalloped Circle, pearls and charm.
Pop over to challenge blog for details.
This is DAY 1 of my personal challenge to myself to use ALL my dies.  I have not counted them so, as yet, I dont know how many I have.  I dare say that there wont be as many as some of you  have. I know from personal experience that John Next Door has hundreds!!!!!  His work space is like a shop.!!!!!!
So I will highlight the dies used and keep a running total at the end of each post.
So the two used today are ones that I use alot of the time.
Dies Total = 2

Autumn or Halloween

Good Morning All
Second post from me today.
Ladybug Crafts Challenge this month is Autumn or Halloween, so for me, it had to be Autumn as I dont do Halloween really.  I did one when I was on the DT for Love to Create but it is not something I usually do as no-one wants a Halloween card here.

I went for Autumn colours, I used a Sue Wilson California Die, various leaf and flower dies in greens and browns, creams, tan.  Homemade bead thingys  under the ribbon and a homemade a sentiment tag.

Summer Flowers

Good Morning All
This morning is the start of  a new challenge at Ladybug Crafts and Samantha has chosen a theme of 'Summer Flowers' so this opens the floodgates for us flower lovers.

A very CAS card for me, the circle die is borrowed from John next Door who will be next door no more soon,  he is moving back to the UK this month, Boohoo.
There are punched flowers from handmade paper and some bought ones from Ebay.  Paper was a magazine freebie and punched butterflies from offcuts of Dufex decoupage sheets.

Something for the Boys

Good Morning All

I used this cute LOTV topper, I do love these, and it is pre coloured too.  Matted it onto brown and beige card,  inked the edges, and made it into an easel.  Added gems and sentiments, ribbon and cut a doily to edge the sides and top.
Hope you like it and will pop over to the challenge blog to have a go.

Favourite Embellishment

Good Morning All

My second post this morning is for Ladybug Crafts Challenge and this month Samantha has chosen a great theme of
Fave Embellishment.

Wow, so easy for me 'cos that has got to be Flowers -Handmade, punched, bought, die-cut - whatever, any shape or form, I love flowers.

All the flowers I used on this one are bought.
In fact I  have used most of my fave embellishments on this card - ribbon, bead pin, crochet flower, charm (says 'Friend')

The picture is recycled from some bits and bobs given to me by Linda (Animal Aid).  I have used them before on my cards and I love the 'Vintage' look of them.
The paper is 'Spring Chic' Me to You, mounted on peachy coloured card.
Pop over to the Challenge blog and have a go with this nice easy one.

Here Comes Spring

Good Morning All

It's the first of the month so it's time for a new challenge at Ladybug Crafts Challenge
Samantha has chosen 'Here Comes Spring'
I chose to use this lovely decoupage image of bright yellow flowers.

The picture looks abit blue but that is because of the background. (Note to self, never use a coloured background, use white).  The base card is white and matted with yellow card  and blue patterned paper, a doily, afew gems and a couple of corner peeloffs.

Hope you like it and will pop over to the challenge blog and have a go.

Anything Goes at Ladybug

Good Morning All

1st of the month means it is time for a new challenge at LadybugCrafts and Samantha has chosen an easy one of Anything Goes.

I was browsing Pinterest and saw this design and found the tutorial HERE.  Obviously, you can decorate it in millions of different ways but I had been cutting out some lovely decoupage Fairy images and wanted to use these.

I used a large flower for the front and Memory Box 'Macarena Corners'

All the tags are homemade and stamped with sentiments mostly from LOTV and other odd ones.  Tied twine on them to blend in with the colours used and inked the edges.

And it folds nearly flat to post too.  Hope you like it!

Be Mine

Good Morning All

The month of Love - Valentines Day on the 14th, and that is the theme for Ladybug Crafts Challenge this month - 'Be Mine'

I used Spellbinders 'Fleur de Lis' squares cut with Cuttlebug and very simply layered them on top of embossed white card.

Added some satin scarlett ribbon tied into a triple bow and added a gorgeous diamante charm on the top.

I  put 'With All My Love' so that it can be used for any occasion.

Give Thanks

Good Morning All

I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year and, hopefully, a healthy, prosperous and crafty one.
                                                                ***************
It is time for a new challenge at Ladybug Crafts and a great theme of 'Give Thanks', very apt for the new year.

Please excuse the reflection on these pics, but it is the acetate.

I used a 6 x 6 scalloped square card blank.  I do love these cards, I bought some more while I was in the UK in December.

I cut an aperture out with a Scalloped circle die and added acetate to make a window.

Cut, then matted and layered orange and white card.

I used Marianne Creatables dies LR 0106 and LR 0107 to make the flowers and cut the leaves.  Added tiny gems to the centres.

I stamped a sentiment onto a small scalloped circle.  I inked all the edges of the circle and the flowers.

I made a bead pin with an orange butterfly bead, added a button with twine tied through it.  Added a satin ribbon  round the top  (this was to hide my wonky layering)  LOL and tied it in a bow in the corner

Inside I used a decoupaged flower, mounted onto a scalloped circle to show through the window.

You have the full month of January to enter so pop over and have fun.
