About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Happy Halloween

Good Morning All

Happy Halloween to you all.

I don't do Halloween but here in Spain it is a big thing and it is a red day (Bank Holiday) tomorrow for the Day of the Dead (All Saints Day)
This is when all the family go to the cemetery and have a picnic there so everyone is off work and therefore we I dont have a Craft Club tomorrow as the shop is shut.

I thought I would show you afew more Christmas tags I have made to add to my gifts.

This is also a great way of using very small pieces of card and paper and any other scraps.
Some of the bits on these I have in my Christmas box since we moved to Spain 9 years ago.

See you Saturday

Altered Paperclips

Good Morning All

As some of you may know, I am a member of a shabby chic swap group on Facebook.
A little while ago I entered one  for Altered Paperclips.

I decided to make a little Shabby chic fabric book for them to go in which could be used later to store Stick Pins.
This is the front all edged with lace trim.
With a ribbon closure.

I think I made 4 pages for the inside from felt and clipped the paperclips to the edges.

I enclosed some of my dangle charms too

And this is the back cover where I tucked some lace for my swap partner to do with what they wish.

I do enjoy making things like this.

Happy Sunday

Good Morning All

Hope you are having a good weekend so far.

My little challenge I set for my Craft Club ladies, and yourselves if you wish, is a sketch.
Nice and Easy.

I made an aperture with CE pierced squares

The ribbon is available in Crafty Ribbons store and the link is on my sidebar.
It is actually Advent ribbon and wide enough to make a lovely pocket Advent Calendar.

******
I wrote all my own Christmas cards out last week and didn't have enough
so I had to make afew more this week.
I haven't made any for Charity this year so I hope Diane doesn't come onto me for any, otherwise I will have to make some very quick ones.
I have also been sorting gifts out for my Craft Club ladies and family as I want to get them all sorted before I go to my sons in November, and I am meeting up with John and Sam too.

*******************

I gave out these gifts at my Craft Club on Friday.
I love making these Matchbox style boxes and decorating them

And inside, something I have given out before - a bar of perfumed soap.

***********

Last week I set the challenge - to make a Baby card as I didn't have time to sort one out due to being late back from UK.

I pulled a card up that I had used before (cheating I know)
I have used this card for a challenge  before which was to use a circle within a square, but as it was in the craft shop to advertise my Groovi workshops I used it again.

Eve

Denise

Pat

Maggie

Val J

The name drawn was Maggie
And the raffle was won by Denise.

Autumn Colours for MAWTT

Good Morning All

Moving Along With The Times Challenge is hosted by Team B's Donna over in the USA.
It is
Anything Goes with Autumn Colours

I used a print from Justinklined.com and coloured with Polychromo Pencils.
I used a background I had made myself using a stencil and inks in dark oranges and browns.
The image reminded me of Autumn nights too, knitting and keeping warm  by the fire.

Pop over to the challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT have been upto.

PS. For Steph Cotterill-  I think you can add a few drops of white spirit to gilding wax to revitalise. Nothing lost if you try it.

Dried up Gilding Polish & Johns Crackers

Good Morning All

John (JND) launched his new faceted cracker die last week and wow, what a cracker it was.
Well I dont have it but I do have the one he released last year.
On Sunday I cut 22 of them ----Phewwwwww
and made them up, filled them with ????? (cant tell you) and decorated them with Johns Poinsettias from last year too.

I did buy the green glitter card for these but OMG was it a chore getting that to cut, so went with some 12 x 12 card I bought from Hobbycraft while I was visiting mums last week.
I think it was because the card is coated so does not die cut very well, so will use it for mats on my cards.
******
The poinsettias were made a couple of weeks ago at my Craft club.
I had been watching John on Hochanda when he launched the Mica Magic, as I dont have it I thought I would use my Mica Paints.
So I coloured afew A4 sheets with them and then stamped and cut out the poinsettias.

Then I thought about the Gilding Polish pots I had when I helped John out at Creative Expressions at Ally Pally afew years ago.
Well afew, infact, all but two had dried out, but as you know I hate throwing anything away, and as they are water based, I spritzed to revitalise them.

As the painting of the paper does not have to be perfect when you are die cutting, so I went to town and painted quite afew A4 sheets.

Look at the lovely sheen on them

It doesnt matter that there are streaks on some, you dont see it when they are die cut.

I may also use some of these for matting my parchment work on.

So if you have any dried up pots of Gilding Polish, get going with a water spritzer and make some backing papers.

As a result of making all these at my Craft club, a couple of ladies asked me to order Johns Poinsettia stamps and dies for them and, Friday, asked me to order the Mica Magic, which I am interested to see myself.

Embossing for Crafty Friends

Good Morning All

We only got back late on Thursday after Ryanair messed up our landing space so we were very late getting home.
Then on Friday I realised I had not done my card for today's challenge at Crafty Friends which is very unlike me as I work far ahead but I was waiting for my digi image from a sponsor.
Anyway I found a card in my files that fitted the theme of
Embossing, wet or dry.
I used CE Hearts Embossing folder on Pearlised card.

I made a box with a window for the card to go in, as it was a special anniversary.

A Hint of Gold/Silver for Allsorts

Good Morning All

It is Ellies's turn to host this weeks challenge at Allsorts with a theme of
A Hint of Gold or Silver..
My card is using some left overs again, far too pretty to throw away.
The only new piece of card I cut was the gold Mirri which I cut the circle out of before I stuck the blue and patterned gold card over it.

PRIZE
A4 stamp set from Rare Earth

Will be back later for the Crafty Friends Challenge.

Home

Good Morning All

I will be on my way home tonight after a quick visit to see mum.

Here is a Groovi card I made a while ago.
It is one of my fave plates and can be snipped to thread ribbon through where the lines of dots are.

I did the butterflies again and snipped around to add on top to give some depth.
Coloured on the back with Felt tips.

A pretty card I think.

Polychromo coloured images

Good Morning All

A couple of cards I coloured a good while ago.
This one is one of Johns stamps from his early days with Creative Expressiobs, easily coloured with Polychromos.

This is one of the images I bought from my local craft shop by JustInklined and, once again coloured with pencils.

Thank you visiting and back soon.
