About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Happy Sunday

Good Morning All

For this weeks challenge at my Craft Club I asked the ladies to make
A Criss Cross Card
This is mine

This one opens like a normal card.

I gave them all the card, ready cut and also a full piece to make two if they wanted to.
I also gave a paper pad to let them choose some paper.
It will be very interesting to see what they come up with
They have two weeks for this one as John and I are going to UK next Friday for 6 days to go and visit his Mum and my family of course.  We always stay with my Mum as she has a spare bedroom.
************************

These are the gifts I gave out - Small notepads which I made covers for with a little tuck pocket on the inside front leaf.

I will have to get  my thinking cap on as I am running out of ideas for thses gifts.
One week I tend to give sweets of choccy and the other week something crafty or useful.
If any of you have any ideas, please comment and let me know.
****************
Onto last week challenge which came about because I made this card for friends anniversary with a hidden sentiment , so I asked them to make a card with the sentiment hidden away on the front.

Matted it onto Butterfly embossed card.
Added two lots of ribbon, a stick pin and a homemade sentiment
Tiny punched butterflies and a star with Mum stamped on it.

Brenda is giving two lovely  Stamp sets  for a prize.

Floral for MAWTT

Good Morning All
MAWTT Challenge is chosen by one of my newer DT Tinz.
She would like to see Floral,  so I think this will be a busy one.
I used one of the Queen Border grids from Groovi and did a smaller one in Blue parchment.

I found a blue flower in my stash that matched, so glued that on and added tiny parchment flowers with pearl centres around the sentiment tag.
Then I decided to add to corners too.

I have loads of these tiny flowers as I make them from all the small pieces of parchment I have left over from projects.

I do like these Queen plates, they take alot of work but I enjoy it so that is the main thing.
I do keep these cards for family and friends, not into the charity box.

Handbag

Good Morning All

The week before last at my Craft Club I took this little bag in and I was going to show the ladies how to make it, but I had t attend a community meeting for the block where we live and by the time I got back to the club Jen had very kindly shown them
(She used to be a lecturer and is very good at tutoring or showing us how to do stuff)

It is called an Exploding Handbag and there is a tutorial HERE
from Scrimpingmommy.

It uses a 12 x 12 piece of sturdy paper or card.
Some of the ladies glued the sides but it can be left to it falls open.

Very easy to make and looks great I think.

Children Cards

Good Morning All

Here are three cards I have made aimed more towards children.
I dont really make kids cards but really need to get some in the box for the charities.

They are all using offcuts of card on my desk.
This one is a decoupage image.

And these two are Paintbox Poppets toppers

I gave 55 cards to another Animal charity last week.
They were having a few stalls to try to raise money to help feed the dogs so I gave them cards and a couple of items to sell - Baby blanket and gift boxes.

I hope they did well.
****
There is no Allsorts DT post tomorrow as the current challenge runs for two weeks, so back on Sunday with Craft Club makes and challenge.
******
Terrible weather here in Spain, not good for people here on their Easter holidays wanting abit of sun.
Sadly, it is black skies and rain, hopefully, it wont last too long as we are away on Tuesday for afew days in Altea up the coast abit from here.

Doodling Squirrel

Good Morning All
This card I am sharing today came about because Barbara Gray and Tina Cox from Clarity did a Hochanda show about doodling on Parchment and designer papers.

They used a stencil that had sections in it and doodled a different pattern in each section.
As I did not have the stencils, I improvised with what I had in my Groovi stash and I had bought this Squirrel plate a short while ago.
The sections around the outside of the squirrel looked perfect for what I wanted.
I used designer parchment  and  worked the plate then  worked the doodles on the back.
Just went where my mind took me and doodled away.
Here is the work in progress.

I added a sentiment tag with Seam Binding.
Not perfect by any means but happy with it and something abit different.

I also wanted to show you a couple more Groovi cards.
One I made for Johns Mum for Easter.  Now we dont normally send an Easter Card to her but as I was posting some to the Grandkids, I thought I would send her one as it will be nice for her to receive post in the nursing home.
I kept it nice and bright and mounted it onto some  inked paper I had done and it  matched very well.

This is my Grandaughters birthday card from back in March so I thought I would show this one too.
The thing I like about Groovi is that I can personalise or add sentiments with the many different fonts that come on some of the plates.

When I made this card, I took it in to my craft club and Denise has a grand daughter named Aurora too.
So she borrowed the plates and some parchment to make the same card and now she is a convert too and has ordered the starter kit..
