About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Die Challenge Day 11 & Journal page 5

Good Morning All

Another Journal page today for my challenge with John Next Door.
To be honest, I am not too keen on this page but there is a pretty paperclip on the die cut which I was gifted in a swap.
The die is one that John gave me before he left Spain, it seems whoever he ordered from sent the wrong one so I am not sure if the name given at bottom of page is correct, but it is on the box it was in.  It is Spellbinders.

I stuck the die cut down at top and bottom to make a tuck spot and tucked an envelope in the space  made from book pages and embellished with a butterfly and lace.

The paperclip has a little tuck too.

Dies Used  ------
20.   S/B Belly Band One

Die Challenge Day 10 - Birthday Card in Pink

Good Morning All

I am enjoying this Die Challenge that John Next Door set me back in November when I was with him.
It is making me have a good sort of of my craft stash, getting rid of quite afew too.
It also takes alot of organising, as I like to make stuff well ahead and get posts ready, I keep getting myself in abit of a mess.!!!!!

Today is another card using bits that were on my desk too.

Three dies sets used on this one and you will be seeing the Pierced Circles alot more because, along with the Squares and Ovals, they are kept at my side as they are used alot.
The sentiment is the focal point for this one.

Dies Used -----

Dies Challenge Day 9 & JND Heart Box

Good Morning All
John Next Door die today and it is his Heart box,
I initially bought this because you can make any shaped box with it as that is the way John designed it.
I cut it in Black and then a floral patterned piece for the top.
I must admit, it is a little bit fiddly but I am going to watch Johns Tutorial again and try making it a different shape too as I make lots of boxes for my Craft Club ladies.

The leafy swirl is one I got in a swap I think and then added some Spellbinder flowers, some twine and a sentiment tag.

Here is a link to Johns Craftalong on Hochanda when he demoed this die along with others.

Dies Challenge Day 8 & Journal page 4

Good Morning All

Another Journal page for my Dies Challenge today.
I used another old Spellbinders die set and decorated 3 pages.
I used a stencil and Distress inks to add abit of decoration
The flowers were cut by hand and were lying around on my desk so I used the largest one to make a tuck spot for a journal card.
I folded the die cut in half to make tuck spots on both sides of a page.

This is the 3rd page and I made the tuck spot with ribbon  going around a page and tied at the top with  another ribbon.

Die Used  -----
14.  S/B Decorative Labels Twenty two

Soft Pastels for Allsorts

Good Morning All

Allsorts Challenge this week is chosen by Helene and the theme is
Soft Pastels
A Groovi card I made to keep in my stock for family of friends.
It is mounted onto soft rainbow coloured pastel card.
The butterfly is picot cut and stuck on to give the card depth.
All coloured on the back of the parchment so it gives it a softer look.

Brenda is giving this Stabilo set as the prize.

Happy New Year & the Challenge Begins John Lockwood, & Something New for MAWTT

Good Morning All
Any sore heads around today !!!!

Firstly I would like to wish you all a
Happy New Year.
***********

My challenge from John Next Door starts this week so I will be using  my dies, or a die from a set on every post  or nearly every post from today until I have used every set that I own.
John challenged me to use them on a Journal page  but when thinking about it, that would be quite difficult so I will be mixing Cards with Journal pages.
If anyone wants to join me, both John and I will give a prize.
It is a great way of having a clear out too, I have got rid of quite afew of my dies and Emboss Folders already!!!!!
Here are some of the dies I either have or am, getting rid of.
This is just SOME.

I started prepping for this when I got back from Johns at end of November.
*********************

I am combining this with Moving Along With the Times challenge this month which is
Something New
So a NEW Journal, a NEW year and a NEW Challenge

So here is the first Journal page I have decorated using afew different die sets -Marianne, Cheery Lynn and JND
 (listed at bottom of post)

I have a stock of coffee dyed papers and Tucks and Tags ready, I just love making them and have a box full ready to go.

I used a scrap of Clarity designer paper, punched a pretty corner to make a tuck spot for a tag.
Die cut the Cheery Lynn Chrysanthemum die  and used JND Poinsettia die as leaves (they were already cut and on my desk)`The corner die set has 3 different designs in so no doubt they will feature again.

I am entering Jo's Craftroom Challenge with this layout.
Her theme is Something New.

Pop over to the challenge blog to see all the other DT's work.
Diane has chosen to go to a monthly challenge from now on.
**********
I am showing this pic, you have seen it before but it shows off the Poinsettia die better and also another of Johns dies, The Proper Cracker die.
I made about 30 of these before Christmas, to give out to my Craft Club ladies, neighbours and friends, so I wont be making anymore anytime soon!!!

Dies used -
1.  JND CC017 - Poinsettia
2.  Cheery Lynn - B175 Lace Corner Deco J
3.  Cheery Lynn - B311 Chrysanthemum Strip

Crafty Ribbons DT

Good Morning All

It is my turn to post for Crafty Ribbons today and I'm going Birthday with two gorgeous, yummy  Grosgrain Ribbons.

I made two cards with some toppers I received in swap parcel, all Tea cups and Cakes themed and I thought this lovely Macaroon ribbon would fit perfectly.

I added this gorgeous pale pink Sentiment ribbon across the top.

Then decided to add some gems in the corners.

Ladies wanted a challenge

Good Morning All

When my Craft Club ladies last met on 20th Dec, I was not going to set them a challenge as it is quite a while until we meet up again on 24th Jan, but they said they wanted one.

It is a nice easy one   ---
Flowers & Butterflies & Charms
It is NOT either / or, it is all three items

If you want to play along you can email me a pic and I do give a little prize to a randomly chosen winner.

Groovi Seals

Good Morning All

I made a large card with one of my Christmas Groovi plates, to be honest I am not keen on it so may give the plate away to one of my class ladies.
It's matted onto Clarity designer paper and then onto 7x7 scalloped card blank

I hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas and now getting back to normal.

No Allsorts today as the current challenge, Anything Goes,  runs for 2 weeks.

Two Jays Stamps

Good Morning All

First I would like to wish you all
Merry Christmas.

When I was at my Sons in November I ordered these two stamps from Hochanda when John was demoing them.
I thought one  would be good for Sympathy cards and one for mens cards.

This one is made using lots of scraps on my desk for the backing, which I think looks really good.
I didn't colour the images but I am going to have a go, like John did, by using the ink on his stamp to wash over the image.

I hope you all have a great day tomorrow, not sure what we are doing, probably just go to local  bar for afew scoops.
We did go to Iceland last week and bought afew nibbles that can be shoved in the oven.
We were thinking of going to our local Indian restaurant but we had a terrible meal there afew weeks ago.

Happy Sunday until January

Good Morning All

I did not set my Craft Club ladies a challenge on Friday as the craft shop is now closed until 20th January so I thought that was abit long to carry it on for, but they decided they wanted one so I will have to have a think now as I have not prepared anything.
*****
Here are the gifts I gave out on Friday, a little nibble to keep them going as we went out for our Christmas  meal, so we only crafted for a short while then piled off to a restaurant for Christmas lunch (for some anyway)
 ********

I gave them all their gift bags last week and added one of the crackers I made a while ago, using Johns cracker die from last year.

************

I still did the card prize and the raffle-
Here is the sketch

My card

Val C

Dawn

Eve

The name drawn was Denise
I put up three raffle prizes as it was the last one before Christmas.
A usual prize plus 2 x 10euro voucher to spend in the craft shop.

Sharon and Claire
****
Dont forget I am starting my Die Challenge on 1st Jan.
While I was with John Next Door he set me a challenge  ---
to use a die from every set I own and use it on a Journal page.

I thought there were too many for all to be used on journal pages so I will intersperse with cards too.
I am doing an online course for Journal Therapy so this is why he set this.
I passed the 1st two modules with distinction by the way!!!.

I would love someone to join me on their blog and both John and I will give a prize.
I have starting  doing the makes for it and have already got rid of some dies I have not used and will not use in the future, so a great way of having a clear out too.
If you want to join in just tell me and I will visit all your posts.

AG for Allsorts

Good Morning All

Lynn is hosting the Allsorts Challenge and it runs for 2 weeks over the Christmas period, the theme is
Anything Goes.

Now you may think this card is abit odd - a golfer on a Christmas card.
Well, the reason being is it is for my Johns son, who is an avid golfer and he has just moved to Melbourne in Australia for at least 6 months. It will be hot when he got there as he went afew weeks ago to get himself sorted and travel abit before he starts the job in mid January.

£15 Stamp Addicts voucher for a prize this week.

Not A Card for MAWTT

Good Morning All

Well the Big Day is nearly here.
I dont know what we are doing, last year we just went to the local bar and had afew Tapas with Andrew & Mandy.  We will see what happens.

Moving Along With The Times challenge  is the last one for this year and the theme is
Anything but a Card
and afew of the DT are giving prizes so worth a go.

I painted this wine bottle at my One Stroke Painting class afew weeks ago.
Far from perfect but I'm happy with it.

I am giving some homemade embellishments and a stencil as my prize.
