About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Crochet

 Hi

Happy Birthday to me.

Yes I am, sshhhhh, 68 years old today.

John is taking me out for a meal to a new Italian restaurant across the road from where we live, so that will be nice.

A couple of crochet blankets to show you today, both going to the charity next Winter.

This is a lovely star blanket by Hooked by Robin on You Tube.  Odds left over from other projects.

Very pretty.

This is odds aswell, a pattern from Fiber Spider on You tube.

Both lovely Blankets.

Crochet

 Hi

Today I have quite afew crochet items to share with you.

This ia a lovely peppermint and white baby shawl done in the Corner to Corner stitch with Bella Coco.

I also use this stitch when I do blankets for the dog rescue centre, just using any odds of wool.

Very pretty colours isn't it???

This is all white and a tutorial by Alison Russell.
Again, it is quite easy once you know the basics of crochet.
She added a lovely border to hers but I just did a scallop edge.

Again, for a baby and quite delicate but very pretty.

Once again, I added a scallop border to finish it off.

Next up is something for me for next Winter  -  a Poncho.
I never had a poncho as a child and I bought this wool in the sale at my local Craft shop because it had Merino wool in it.
There were odd balls, 3 terracota, 2 beige and 1 blue.
I mostly followed a pattern by Bag O Day Crochet but adjusted the neckline

And again added a  Scalloped Border.

Finally another baby blanket in white.
Pattern by Blossom Crochet very similar to a granny square.

Another Picot Border.

I'm presently crocheting another Star blanket in various baby colours with yarn my Sis brought  with her when she visited last week.

Take care all.

Cowls

 Hi Everyone

Today I have some cowls or Shawls to share with you.

This turquoise and Pink one I made for my sister.  She wanted these colours as she colours her hair these two colours!!

I made a pretty Picot edge.

These one is crochet in Cotton so it is quite heavy but so beautiful.

Its a tutorial by Hooked by Robin and is so easy.

I love this picot edge too, it looks very professional.

These will go to the charity.
And I have enough yarn left to make another one.

Then there were three.
A lovely lemon yarn.

Then there were four, wow,  I've  been a busy bee this week.
They don't take long to make.
This is the left over yarn from my sisters cowl plus some grey yarn.

Crochet

 Hi

Here is another Crochet shawl I have completed for the charity.

Beautiful, soft, white yarn I bought from the pound shop in the UK.

I prefer to work in rounds instead of back and forth as I never know how much yarn I may have to compkete some projects.  It may turn  out as a Pram blanket or a Shawl if I have enough .

This pattern is from Alison Russell HERE and I didn't even have to do a border as that is how it ends, perfect.

Crochet Blanket

 Hi

Today's post for Not A Card Wednesday is a Crochet Blanket or Shawl.

I bought this yarn when I was in UK at my sisters afew weeks ago, it was very good value but also soft, perfect for a baby blanket.

I used the corner to corner stitch but in a rectangle so this blanket measures qbout 90 x 100cm.

This will be going to the charity when it gets cooler.

I followed this pattern on You tube

From Bag O day channel.

The bonus is, I don't need to do a border as it ends naturally with a scalloped edge.

I like this colour combo too, do you??

Crochet for Baby

 Good Morning All

When John and I were in the UK in December for his sons wedding I bulked out my return  suitcase with DK wool in a  lovely mint colour, great for baby blankets.

Here's three that I have crocheted for the charities.

This one is Mint, Cream and White.

A pattern form the Fiber Spider

Another pattern from the Fiber Spider

And finally a smaller one,  rectangle shape,  more pram size.
This is from a YT video by Blossom Crochet
HERE

I find all the patterns on You Tube as I find it easier to follow than reading a pattern.  I have added the links for you with each picture.

Crochet for the Charity

 Good Morning  All

Here are 3 shawls I have crocheted for the charity, all being stored upstairs until Autumn.

I just go on You Tube and search for Crochet Baby Blanket Rounds.
This throws up shawls or blankets that start in the centre, so that way, I can do a Pram blanket or a shawl, depending how much wool I have and add colours as and when I feel like it.  I find this better than working across in rows.
