About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Away today

Good Morning All

As this post goes out we should nearly be landing in UK to go and see Johns Mum and my Mum.
It is only a short visit and I have scheduled my posts.

Here are some Groovi cards I have made to send with swaps.

This one is matted onto a Pixie powder background I made

This one took a while as the lace border takes time and patience.
I added some flowers punched from the scraps of parchment I have left over.

I really like this one, bright and cheery.

***********
During the summer months I always have a swim when I have taken Rico for a walk in the morning.
On Tuesday whilst swimming I saw a small black thing moving on the surface of the water so I went over, thinking it may be a bird, but it was a bat.
I got out of the pool and found a stone to try to get it out.
I put the stone under it and lifted it onto the side, hoping it would dry out and fly off.
I carried on with my swim and saw it again, thinking it had got into the water again,  but it was at the opposite end to where I had put it on the side.
So I swam off to have a look, got this one out onto the side.
Went back to see if the other one was still there and it was.
So I had a pair of wet and soggy bats.

I moved them but it the shade of a large plant pot and kept checking on them through the day.
They were still alive at 9pm.
When I went for my swim on Wednesday morning they had gone so I presume they were waiting for darkness to fly off.
I,m so glad they have gone and didn't die.
I felt so happy.

Four Cards from Scraps

Good Morning All

My desk seems to have built its mountain of scraps again.
So on Saturday I braved the heat in my craftroom, put the fan on, and made these four cards from some of the scraps on my desk.
This one is using a topper that was on one of my Birthday cards.
A dangle charm that I have made, infact I have made loads as I can make them at night while watching TV and keeping in cool with the AC on in the living room.

I always seem to end up with lots of pieces of paper and card about 2" wide, so these two  cards are made with some of those.
Another dangle charm and I dont even know where that Kraft die cut came from.

An LOTV topper and two strips of waste card and paper again, covering the join with two pieces of ribbon.

This pretty paper was from a pad I bought on the Declutter site
and this piece already had a circle cut out so I thought I would use it.
I stamped a verse on a circle I already had cut, inked the edges and it just fit inside.

So four cards for the charity box that only really cost me the base card blanks.

If anyone would like any Dangle charms I will post a mixed selection of 12 for  a fiver to cover post and a little bit for me.

Summer Fun / Sport for Allsorts

Good Morning All

Mervi has chosen the theme for this weeks challenge at Allsorts.
Summer Fun or Sport.

I used a Paintbox Poppets topper  from Reddy Creative Cards.
Matted onto Kraft card and Leafy Mosaic Embossed white card.
This image just shouts out Summer Fun to  me.
When I was little, during the summer holidays, my Mum would pack me up afew jam butties and off I would go for the day to the woods with my fishing net and jam jar, with afew of my pals.
There was never any fear in those days, no worries when I was gone for the day, always back in time for tea.

Groovi

Good Morning All

Here are a couple of Groovi cards I sent t friends in the Uk for their Birthdays.
This one I sent to a lady I used to work with before I moved here, we all still send Birthday and Christmas cards to each other and occasionally meet up when I have time.

This one I sent to my team leader at Allsorts, Brenda, she has Poppies on her blog header so I usually make her a card with them on.

Groovi cards that I spend alot of time, I do keep for friends and family.

Crafty Ribbons

Good Morning All

Crafty Ribbons hold their challenge on Facebook HERE

It is my turn to show my creation.
I used a couple of Ovals that I had inked when I was playing with my Izinks.
I stamped them with 2 of the stamps from Johns set  'Spring Flowers' JND0001
I used two pieces of card  and added the ribbon to hide the join, I very often do this instead of cutting into a new piece.
I didn't want to hide the ribbon behind the ovals so put it over the top.
Added afew gems in one corner and a sentiment tag in the other.
Why not pop over to their Facebook page and have a go at the challenge, you can do anything as long as you use ribbon.
You can win a ribbon bundle or a voucher if not in UK.

'B' for Crafty Friends

Good Morning All

Crafty Friends Challenge time again and this time the theme is
Things Beginning With 'B'

I went with Butterflies, no surprise there then!!!!
I also used Blue and Brown although the theme is Things Beginning with 'B'
Blue card, an offcut of a homemade background made with inks and John Lockwood Daisy Daisy Stamp.
Butterflies are Creative Expressions and the sentiment is from a sheet of Vellum, I tore and stuck onto blue card and hid the glue with pearls.

We do not have a sponsor for this one, so we were able to use anything we wanted.
Pop over to the challenge blog to see all the great work by the DT.

Perfect Pairs for Allsorts

Good Morning All

Allsorts Challenge  this week is chosen by our Team leader, Brenda
Perfect Pairs
So she wants to see a card matched to a tag or a Box.
As I was asked a good while ago to make a wedding card for an English couple but she wanted the wording in Spanish.
So I made a box card, as these are very effective, and I made a box for it to go into and decorated it.
Here is the box card which say 'Congratulations on Your Wedding'
She did not want any colour on the card other than white and silver or gold.

So I added a little colour to the box in the form of ribbon and flowers.

I like making Wedding cards as you can go OTT with embellishments as mre often than not, people do keep them, I still have mine in a box somewhere!!

Prize on offer this week
