About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Covering a Mistake

Good Morning All

One thing I love about Groovi is that you can add any sentiment anywhere, that is when you get to grips with working backwards.
As you have to work on the back of the parchment so you have to spell the words backwards if you know what I mean.
Well I was making  a Christmas card for my eldest sister and her hubby and thought I would add their names on a banner at the bottom.
I got names right then went and added a 'b' instead of a 'd' in the 'and'
Well I certainly was not going to waste a piece of work so I had to think of a way of covering it up as I could not correct it.

As I couldn't add a butterfly, which I normally would do to cover a mistake, I added one of my bows.

Not too bad ???

We have had afew days of rain and according to the forecast we are getting a Gota Fria.
This is torrential rainfall and when we have had them before, we literally have rivers running down the street.
Luckily we live at the top of the village.

Hunkydory

Good Morning All

I started a subscription to Papercraft ......... and I got my first one last week.
With it, came a Hunkydory card making pack.
Now, as much as I love the look of Hunkydory I am not a big fan of using them but I must admit, that once I got started I did enjoy it.
I have used the odd pack before HERE

From the pack, I made  7  -  A5 size
2 Square
4  -  5 x 7 Stepper and still afew bits left over to make a couple more.
Here are afew of them.

I really enjoyed doing the stepper cards, not made any for ages of this style.

I took this opportunity to make Tess's Christmas card too as I thought these images were quite cute.

I cant wait to see the little one, in fact all of them when I go over in November.
She is chatting away now and out of nappies, so getting a big girl.

Baby Groovi Plates

Good Morning All

Since I bought my Groovi starter kit, or rather, my John bought it for me for my birthday this year.
I joined the Groovi club which I pay monthly for and in return we get sent a mini Groovi plate each month.  They are about 4" square.
This months was really quite nice, it was a swan.

Last months I wasn't too keen on until I used it last week.
This was a very quick card to make so I think I shall be using this plate again very soon.
I like it on the coloured parchment, I dont think it would look as good on plain.

Christmas for Allsorts

Good Morning All

Susan has chosen the theme of Christmas for the Allsorts Challenge this week.
I took the opportunity to make a Christmas card for two of my Grandaughters, Aurora and Arabella.
As their names both end in A, I added them down one side and across the bottom.
I am very happy with how this turned out after I had coloured with water colour pens.
I  think most of my family are getting Groovi cards this Christmas as I can add their names very easily.

Postpals

Good morning all

Here are a few, very quick cards I have made to send to some of the Post Pals, link in side bar.  They go to the kids and their siblings, so if you click on the link it will take you to the page that tells you all about their work and about each of the kids they support.

There are all A6 cards , using papers and toppers free in a magazine, so barely costing me anything except a few embellishments and card base.
But if they bring a little smile to their faces it makes me happy.
My ladies at Craft club make some too and when I go to UK,  I address them and post them all which I pay for out of any profit I make if I sell any cards.

I just pull afew bits out on my desk and go ahead and make, great fun.

Men for MAWTT

Good Morning All

Moving Along With The Times Challenge is hosted by Beckie this time and the theme is
For A Man.

I used to do this style of card years ago, cutting the letters out after sticking them onto Mirri card.
They are printed from a Crafters Companion CD.
I found some leftover letters in my stash so decided to use them.
The backing paper is a 6 x 6 pad from The Works.

Pop over to the challenge blog and see what Team  B have been upto.

A very Autumnal morning on the Costa Blanca when I took Rico out at 8am.
Mist hovering in the lower roads

Then on the way home the sun popping up, very hazy

I do love going out for my early walk when it is like this.
Everything smells nice and fresh.

More LOTV & Scraps

Good Morning All

Another couple of cards using my odd pieces of paper too good to throw.

On this one I added a couple of JND Poinsettias, heat embossed with gold.

All these papers were free in a magazine my sister gave to me last year and I still have loads left.
There are lots of toppers with it too so I will show some cards tomorrow using some of those.
I must be past the 50 mark now for my Christmas cards but still a few to go.

LOTV and Scraps

Good Morning All
Well, we had a bit of rain last night at some point and I had to get my fleece jacket out of my winter storage box to take Rico out for his morning walk, it was a little bit chilly here on the Costa Blanca.
*****
These are a couple of cards I made using the pieces of paper that were left over from the cards I posted yesterday and last week.
They were decent sizes of paper, too good to throw, so I used two contrasting pieces and stuck a piece of Mirri on the join.
A lovely LOTV topper and JND Snowflake  sentiment
A cute Christmas stocking charm

This is two pieces of the same paper, again, just added a piece of Mirri to hide the join.
I get a great feeling of satisfaction doing this, sad or what !!!!!

An easy way to use scraps.
I do find it very difficult to throw a piece of card or paper away, no matter how small, that's why I love finding ways of using them.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

My card for my mini challenge this week is featuring a homemade bow and gem.
A very simple card really, used CE Butterfly Emboss folder, an acetate sentiment I,ve had for years, gems to hide the glue.
Some tiny butterflies punched from a scrap of pixie powdered black card.

I gave each of the ladies a little bag containing a small length  of ribbon, a bow with a gem.

Do with it what they wish.

Trees Leaves for Allsorts

Good Morning All

Allsorts Challenge is hosted by Mervi this week and she wants Trees and / or Leaves.

I used the other part of the LOTV topper I used last week for another DT project.
I always seem to use the CE Mosaic Leaves embossing folder just lately.
Most of my DT work this last few weeks have had a them of Autumn or trees so I have used it alot.
The ribbon and the buttons are from Crafty Ribbons.

I added a Leaf charm tied with twine onto the ribbon.

Sponsor is Marianne Designs
