About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Good Morning All
I made this card for the Crafters Companion Challenge.

I love this decoupage and thought it went well with the backing paper and the sentiment. All matted onto a pink card blank and mirri card.

Unstampabelles Guest Designer

Good Morning All

I was asked a short while ago if I would like to do a guest spot for Unstampabelles Challenge as my card was chosen as their favourite in November (see post here) for a lovely parchment card I entered  (see my post here)  This was the post when my new Grandson decided to make his appearance.

Their challenge goes live at 7am Australia time so that is why this post is live at this time.

The name for  this challenge site says it all,  you cannot use stamps or digis.
I made two cards for my guest spot, both very similar, as the theme is New Beginnings with a twist of use something New, embellishment, technique or product.

As you know, I love my decoupage and I love Forever Friends.

The Baby teddy is stuck on the front of acetate and the oval image is stuck inside the acetate.  Ribbon on the top corner.  The buttons are the New element - Christmas gift from my friend Val HERE.

My second card will be shown here and on the Unstampabelles Challenge blog on 19th Jan.

I put a little charm in the box (as this will be going to the charities I support, for them to sell) but it could be used for money or small gift.
All the papers, decoupage and gift boxes are from a Forever Friends pack.
Thanks You to Susan for asking me to Guest for them.

Fave Five of 2013

Good Morning All
I have said it before but once more
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL

I see I have a couple of new followers, Welcome, I hope you enjoy your time here and get a little bit of inspiration.

I have been looking back on my post to look for my fave 5 to enter Debbys challenge HERE

First one HERE
I really enjoyed making this card in a box, a great way of using loads of                    embellishments that have been in my stash for ages.

Second one HERE   It took a while to get this right but so pretty.

Third one HERE   I made this for my sister who was diagnosed with leukemia, such a worrying time for us but she is doing good, touch wood.

Fourth one HERE  I do enjoy doing parchment work.

Finally this one HERE  so intricate looking, well worth all the time it took to make.

I hope you enjoy looking at my faves, I could have chosen a load more.

Give Thanks

Good Morning All

I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year and, hopefully, a healthy, prosperous and crafty one.
                                                                ***************
It is time for a new challenge at Ladybug Crafts and a great theme of 'Give Thanks', very apt for the new year.

Please excuse the reflection on these pics, but it is the acetate.

I used a 6 x 6 scalloped square card blank.  I do love these cards, I bought some more while I was in the UK in December.

I cut an aperture out with a Scalloped circle die and added acetate to make a window.

Cut, then matted and layered orange and white card.

I used Marianne Creatables dies LR 0106 and LR 0107 to make the flowers and cut the leaves.  Added tiny gems to the centres.

I stamped a sentiment onto a small scalloped circle.  I inked all the edges of the circle and the flowers.

I made a bead pin with an orange butterfly bead, added a button with twine tied through it.  Added a satin ribbon  round the top  (this was to hide my wonky layering)  LOL and tied it in a bow in the corner

Inside I used a decoupaged flower, mounted onto a scalloped circle to show through the window.

You have the full month of January to enter so pop over and have fun.

Happy New Year

Good Morning All
I wanted to show you this box I made for my DIL to put in her Christmas stocking

I love these cards I was given by Linda (Animal Aid)
they are sort of vintage images in sepia tones with just a tiny hint of colour as in the rose.

It is about  A5 size and tied together with ribbon to close it.

Here is another one I made to put as a raffle prize for my Slimming Club.

I also made one for my other DIL to use as Noahs keepsake box.  ie putting his hospital band in, his first tooth, lock of hair etc.  I did not take a picture of it before I took it to the UK in December.

Birdie in a Box

Good Morning All
Got back home on Friday afternoon after a great Christmas in Benidorm, we had a great time and will be tempted to do the same next year,it takes all the hassle out of it, no cooking, no housework etc.

The card I am showing you today is made from some blanks that Linda (Animal Aid) gave me and this one I made before I realised how they should be assembled.

This is the whole thing assembled and inside a box I made too.

This is the card, which I made into a box shape before realising it should be glued at the sides so that it will fold flat.  Durhhhh.  As shown HERE on this post.

This shows the card and the box with an acetate window.

Top view.

The papers were free in a  magazine and the flowers are Marianne Creatables.  I think the bird cage is Tim Holtz given to my by John Next Door.

Christmas gifts from Crafty Friends

Good Morning All
The Allsorts Challenge is carrying through for a fortnight, until 4th Jan, so no new challenge this morning.

I  wanted to show you these lovely gifts I received from  my crafty friends here in Spain.

 From Val -

A gorgeous hand made box.

            Inside a beautiful easel card.

Val does not have blog but she visits me every post I make and we have met through blogland and now has become a good friend here in Spain.

The drawer revealed a load of gorgeous shaped buttons.

Alot of you know John from his blog HERE .  I dont know how he managed to make all these goodies as he is so busy leading up to Christmas.

These were inside the box, a home made box and cracker which had chocs inside.

There were home made  biccys all tied up with pretty ribbon ( going into my craft box LOL)

The biccys were different shapes and the some were iced too.

Thank you John and Val, see you both soon.

Merry Christmas

Good Morning All

I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and hope you all have a wonderful festive season.

It is a hinged style card with an acetate window.

There is a Dufex decoupage butterfly image behind the window.

The flowers are Cheery Lynn Roses dies cut from shades of yellow card
and
Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms cut from the pages of an old book and inked on the edges.

The green leaf is from a pack of die cuts I bought on Ebay.

This shows the inside, I stuck the borders from the decoupage pack onto the inside folds.

And, finally, a satin ribbon tied into a bow and stuck down with heart shaped pearl.

                                                                         *************************
We walked down to the village square last night to view the Nativity Scene they put up each year.  It is a working scene about 8ft x 8ft and is lit inside, by this I mean the fires are lights and the water wheel goes round and the shepherd  moves his spade etc etc.

It is all behind mesh to protect it.

They have done away with alot of the lights through the village this year because of cut backs, but I'm so glad they have kept the Nativity Scene.

In the square where this is, they have the New Year Celebrations at midnight on 31st.  There is a Spanish tradition of 12 grapes. ------

When it is midnight in Spain on New Years Eve, each time the clock chimes, all the people put a grape in their mouth. By the time the clock has finished chiming for the twelfth time, everybody has to have finished their grapes and the New Year starts.

Eating the grapes is very funny because everybody starts the New Year with a full mouthful of grapes. It's almost impossible to finish eating the grapes by the time the clock finishes chiming and quite often people still have all the grapes in their mouths, and they start looking at each other and have to laugh.
If you manage to eat the 12 grapes then you will have 12 months good luck.
