About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Use Your Name

Good Morning All
Allsorts Challenge this week has been set by  Helene and I think this is a great one 'Use Your Name' so this could be your full name or your initials, which is what I have done
WLT  - Wendy Lesley Townsend - With Love Today.

A 3 step side stepper card made from a 5 x 7" card blank
I used Spellbinders-Mega Classic Scalloped Oval
I inked all the edges (I,ve really got into this, it does soften  the shape)
Butterflies, ribbon, doily, flowers and liquid pearls.
I made the tag from an image from Astrids Artistic Efforts  she is very kind and has loads of freebies on her blog and she is a very talented lady.

The sponsor this week is Crimson Cloud and the winner chooses 3 packs of die-cuts which I think is a brill prize.
This is an excellent site for crafty goodies, I have used them.

Earring Card

Good Afternoon All
I,m feeling in a happy mood today as I just received 'slimmer of the week' at my slim club, only lost 0.5kg but after being in the UK last week I thought that was pretty good and alot of the others had gained.

I made this card before I went away and I have made similar before and think it is a good idea for a gift/card for someone you don't want to spend alot on for a gift but give a little token gift.

I made the earrings from a necklace that was bought in a charity shop and I dismantled it to get these lovely beads.
The centre paper in the aperture is an odd piece left over from another project.  The white surround is a die borrowed from John Next Door a while ago. (when I use something of his I usually cut afew out to use at a later date).  The punched hearts were sent to me in some candy I won and I just added afew gems and a sentiment.
A lovely girly card???

April Showers

Good Evening All
I have made a quick card today and, I think it is fairly CAS too.  I used another of my Paintbox Poppets decoupage images again and made and easel card.  I love these images and this one is such a cutie - two little girls with their wellies on, could be 'Singing in the Rain'

Not much to say about it really, just added a homemade sentiment and a doily and a wire flower embellishment.

Sunday Mojo Number 5

Good Morning All
Gosh it is nice to be back in the warm sunshine of Spain.  But so very hard leaving my gorgeous grand daughter behind, but it is only 7 or 8 weeks until she will be visiting us here.

Onto the challenge set by John Next Door last week and it was so flippin' difficult.  Two card blanks and two envelopes and some sticky pads and the word 'FOUND', he explained that I was to make two cards using items I found on my travels to and in the UK, so this is what I managed to come up with.

I was walking Hollie in the park, bitterly cold morning, all muffled up with hat, scarf and gloves on, eyes to the floor and I spotted some daisies in flower and quite afew feathers, nice white ones, so I pocketed those.  Finally a gorgeous serviette that Loriens Mum used for our Sunday tea.

Then further along I found a foam 'cat' shape, abit trodden on, but I thought I may be able to do something with it.

So I used the feathers and pulled three bits off the pine cone.

I don't think I will be giving this card to anyone do you?

I,m afraid mine are no where near as artistic as Johns but he has had college training and that is my excuse and I am sticking to it!!!!

I will have to get my thinking cap on now to get things together for next weeks challenge!!!!!

Ain't she cute?  Showing off her first teeth on this one.

Butterfly

Good morning All
4.21 here in the UK and I cant sleep, so doing a bit of blog hopping and thought I may as well do a post and enter afew challenges.
I have used my fave Cheery Lynn 'roses' die here and 'corners'.  I,m still having fun using these rose dies. The butterfly is a Marianne with liquid pearls on the wings.  I kept this card quite CAS, just added a doily and a string of pearls and put the sentiment on the smallest of a Spellbinders Labels diecut.

Tag You're It

Good Morning All
Love to Create time again and it is a great theme this week 'Tag You're It' so this is quite open to interpretation.  I have done a 'Man' card, believe it if you will because it does not happen often.

I chose a Eureka Stamps image called 'Father & Son Bear' and I coloured it with Promarkers and Spectrum Noirs.  Embellished with ribbon, buttons, brads and a lovely 'fish' charm.            Eureka Stamps is one of the sponsors for this challenge and Stamping Chef is the second sponsor.

So there will be some great prizes on offer.
Have fun with this challenge and we all look forward to visiting your blogs to see your creations.

Lady Anne Challenge DT

Good Morning All
You may have seen my good news on yesterdays post about  being asked to join Lady Annes new challenge DT.  This is a monthly challenge and I am really looking forward to the new challenges with my new team mates.

Our first challenge is a sketch and here is my card  -----------
I followed the sketch which was nice and easy and the images from Daisy Doodles were fab to work with, I chose a sentiment as-well, me being greedy!!
I coloured the image with Promarkers.  Glued narrow yellow satin ribbon on strips of green card for the verticals and used wider green satin ribbon for the horizontals.  The two flowers were cut using Marianne dies and I used hand made paper and stuck a gem in the centre.

As I mentioned, the sponsor this month is -----

Sunday Mojo No. 4

Good Morning All
This is  a scheduled post as, with any luck, I will be 25,000 feet high in the sky flying to the UK on my Hollie days.  Easter eggs are packed along with my winter woollies.

My good news today is that I have been asked to join Lady Annes new challenge DT.  This is a monthly challenge and I am really looking forward to the new challenges with my new team mates.  Here

The pack of bits I gave John Next Door last week for this weeks mojo challenge, I must admit, I found quite difficult to make anything I was happy with so I cant wait to see what he has made.  I thought his creations last week were amazing, pop over and have a peep, just follow the link above.

This is what I came up with.

My gorgeous new LOTV stamp coloured with Promarkers.  Spellbinders border die and embosser and my beloved 'liquid pearls'.

I must admit I dont really like this one and these diecuts of lillies were a real challenge, but 'heyho' onwards and upwards.

This was the pack I gave him last Sunday, it was all red, orange and yellows.  I,m going to hop over to Johns blog and see what he has made.

John has told me about the challenge for next Sunday - he is giving me two card blanks and two envelopes and the subject is 'Found'.  He has explained that I have to make  a card with items I find, a bus ticket, a feather, a leaf, absolutely anything that I  may pick up, wherever I am.  How strange is that?

Vintage

Good Morning All
Allsorts challenge theme this week is 'Vintage',  now this is out of the box for me, I really had to think about this one and this is what I came up with.  I thought a fan is old fashioned and ladies used to crochet to pass the time and they wore pearls and feathers.  I distressed all the papers to  look aged.
The fan is an image from Lilac Garden
Homemade pin and crochet hearts with pearl
Memory Box Swirl diecut
I inked all the edges of papers and card and images with my one and only Tim Holtz Distress ink and a brown ink I have had for years
Pearls and lace and feathers added

Sponsor this week is 'Lots of Buttons'
Have lots of fun with the challenge this week.

Engagement

Good Afternoon All

I have still not heard from my candy winner so unless I do it will be drawn again on Saturday.

I wanted to show you this card I made last year for a friend who asked me to make a card for their friends engagement.
It is a Criss Cross with a seperate card inside it.

I decorated the criss cross with diecuts,
a homemade pin, ribbons, pearls, flowers and gems
I made a band to slide over, both to pretty it all and to hold all together.

The card I used was so heavily embossed I did not think I needed to add much embellishment to it.

I added an insert and a diecut heart with a sentiment printed on the computer.

Pastel Colours

Good Morning All
The them at Love to Create Challenge this week is 'Pastel Colours' or 'Easter'.  I chose a simple image from one of our sponsors - QKR Stampede called 'Apple Blossom Label'.  I coloured with Promarkers.

I obviously kept it all pastel shades -  pinks and lilacs and a little green.  I embossed a piece of white card and inked it, then cut it diagonally.  I put a length of lace and ribbon on the edge.  A couple of gems and a corner diecut.

Our sponsors this week are ---

Sunday Mojo No. 3

Good Morning All
If you saw my post here you would have seen the bits for the Mojo Challenge that John gave me, this is just a little challenge  between John Next Door and I.
These are the bits again, we can use all or some and add our own bits to them. This is what I came up with.

This is the first one - An easel card using numerous die cuts of my own and quite afew of the bits that John sent round.

This is a close up of the lovely paper he gave me.
Second item was the book and this is what I came up with - a Secret Hiding Place like you see in Spy Movies!!!!!
I stamped my initials on one of the tags, inked the edges of some of the quilled flowers.

So this is the front.

This is a side view showing that it is a Patricia Cornwell novel (I do enjoy reading her books sometimes)

This is what I did with the inside, it took a while with a very sharp craft knife and I have kept all the insides to cut flowers from.
I stuck a sheet of the patterned paper on the inside page to cover the hole.

Attached ribbon to tie it closed.
This was something abit different and I really enjoyed it.   It also got me into making some smash books / envelope books 7 memory books  as shown in the link above.  John gets alot of hard backs from the books at work that they can no longer sell (they sell 2nd hand books in the shop) and they are perfect for covering with nice paper and making these books with.  There will no doubt be more of these in future posts from me.  I have already made one for my my sons partner who has just found out she is having a baby.  I have put lots of pockets inside it so that she can keep records and appointment cards or memory bits for her and the baby.  So I think afew people will be getting these as  Christmas gifts too.
xxxxxx
Wendy L
PS.  Here is what I  have put together for next week, No. 4. Plus a stamped image which I have not done yet.  The die cuts are from a set of Spellbinders I bought without reading properly (I seem to do this alot) I I think you need a set of stamps with them.  They are meant to be Lillies, they are on a set with Crosses on, which is why I bought them,  for sympathy cards.  I am eager to see what John does with them, as he has an artistic eye for things like this.
CHALLENGES -------------
Creative Corner Challenge # 11 - Layers  Easel Card
