About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Lots of Flowers

Good Morning All
Forever Friends Monthly Challenge time, mid month reminder,  and a lovely one it is too, good for me as it is titled 'Lots of Flowers'.

I love this pre-coloured Whoopsi Daisy image, she is sooooo cute.  And she is a freebie on their site (link is below)

I made it into an easel card then added loads of extras - homemade butterfly, heart shaped pin, die cuts, feather and flowers (in stash for ages), lace, Core-d-inations card.  A lovely blue paper flowers and afew smaller buds and a leaf.  All on a lovely blue flowery/stripey paper.

I decided to make another card for the DT again using Whoopsi Daisy image and I have been playing around with one of my newish Spellbinder dies - Layered Elegant Swirl.
I used a cream piece of card 12 x 36cm.  Finished card
closed and tied with a satin blue ribbon - decorated with Spellbinders Bitty Blossom Flowers.

Open showing inside decorated with a floral print paper.  The image is mounted onto Marianne Creatables die.
I wanted the inside image to stand out so I attached a piec of folded acetate attached to the card base and the image.

Showing the image standing proud a little bit.

Challenged

Good Afternoon All
Quick post today as it is Spanish Lesson this afternoon.
I made this card yesterday and am quite pleased with it, I used leftover scraps  of paper and card, inked all the edges and added Marianne butterflies.

John Next Door asked if I would fancy doing a challenge each week, just me and him, to keep our mojo going.  We will take it in turns to supply an assortment of bits to make a card or two with, I am to go first and this is what came up with.
I wont list everything but there are 2 sheets of hand made paper in lilac and pink, a negative diecut, gold/silver flowery material, ribbon, paper with gorgeous pics on and bits of cut out card and paper and gems.

I,m not sure whether we are going to show the cards this Sunday or following Sunday so keep your eyes peeled.  Johns style is quite different to mine but he has been doing quite afew pretty ones just lately.  Pop over and have a look.  I think this will be fun.

Another Mums Day

Good Morning All
This is a card I made for a friend to give Mum
Very simple really but I think it looks good - easel card all done in purples, pinks and creams.  Used my fave Marianne die, corners are Cheery Lynn die and the flowers are Marianne again. Gems and paper been in stash for ages.

                                                   xxxxxxxxxxxxxx                         xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

On Sunday we went out in the car and parked on the coast to go for a walk, here are afew pics.

We went there one day last week but it started pouring with rain, it was the day we had the red rain.  We ended up sitting in the car for a while then just had a short walk with umbrellas.
So we wanted to go back and have a proper walk as we had never been there before.  The coast is all little bays, you walk round one headland and there is another bay. with a small beach, all very pretty.  You can see how clear the water is in this one.
We had a lovely bacon sandwich in one of the beach bars for Sunday lunch and very nice it was too.

In Love

Good Afternoon All
I told you the other day that I had been to my local craft shop and bought some Liquid Pearls and how much I loved them.  At the same time I bought two Cheery Lynn Dies 'Roses', both medium and small and I love love love them.  Here is a card I HAD to make to use some of them.
I used one of my 36cm pieces of card folded at 12cm intervals to make an easel style.  The tags are from Astrid, she has lots of freebie designs here.  The corners are from Cheery Lynn too.  Stamped sentiment onto scalloped circle with liquid pearls around it.

Close up of the flowers, some I added a pearl in the centre and others I used the Liquid Pearl.

The thing I love about these dies is, you can make the flowers as closed or open as you like.

These are a few that I have made and you get the star shaped bit to use as the base of the flower.
They cut separately so you can build the flowers with as many layers as you wish and I mix both sizes.

I just love these,as you know if you are a regular follower, I just love making flowers.  I sat there last night with my craft tray on my lap and made loads in different colours, mostly I used pearlised paper which has been  in my stash forever (at least 5 years), but I did make a few with plain white textured paper that I can ink in different colours to match other embellishments I am using.

Butterflies

Good Afternoon All
Believe it or not but I actually knitted a scarf last night.

I had some wool that I bought ages ago and showed it on a card on my blog  and then I saw the same wool being used on Create & Craft to knit a scarf.  So I rooted the wool out and decided to go and try to buy some more, but as you might expect, after all this time, they did not have the same type so I bought this, it is shades of purple through to grey and nearly black.  It was not quite the same type but similar.  So I started last night and got it finished as were up very late watching TV - we bought a Media Box and have been watching 'Homelands' and are addicted.
Let me know what you think.  This is one Christmas present ready to go in my box.
                                                        xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

This is what it looks like and you knit it through the loops at the top so that the fatter bit hangs down to make the layers on the scarf.

CHALLENGES ----
Kaboodle Doodles # 161 - Anything but a card
    Ends 11th Mar
Floral Fantasies - Celebration  Brenda is such inspiration

And of course, there was that very small piece left so I made a card using it.
I have a few of these base cards ready to use.  When my scrap boxes get full, I use the bits to make a background.  The purple butterfly is from Lilac Garden and I used a piece of white card I had embossed.  I went to my nearest craft shop yesterday and I am 'in love' with 'Liquid Pearls' so this is on the corners.  Ollie (craft shop owner) showed me how to make pearls by putting it on acetate and then lifting them off to use individually.  I will definitely have to get more colours.

As we are having our usual Saturday night tonight for some reason, this means that OH will be in the kitchen and I will be in the living room with the TV control - yippee.

Recycled

Good Morning All
I would love to know if or how you all recycle used cards.  Last year it was my OH 60th birthday so you can imagine he received some lovely cards.  As you know, I hate throwing anything away, and some of my neighbours give me their old birthday and Christmas cards to re-use.  Anyway, this card I am showing you today, was given by John next door and you can see the original card here John Next Door.  Please hop over and have a look as John is quite new to blogging!!!
This is what I made with the card.
I wanted to make a card for one of my Brother in Laws and I needed to keep it quite flat for posting.  So, basically, I cut the card down and took off some of the embellishments.
This is what I added to the inside, as my BIL was retiring from wagon driving.
                          xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

With cards that I cannot use anything from, I will just use the plain side of the card for matting and layering or die cutting shapes from,' waste not want not ' is my motto.

Please leave me a comment and tell me what you do with used cards.  I shall look forward to reading what you all have to say.  Infact, as I sit here thinking about this post, I will send some crocheted flowers and hearts to the one that I think is the most useful or inventive!!!!

No Image Card

Good Afternoon All
I have, I think, done what I call, a messy card.
I love this type of card when I see them on other blogs but I find it quite hard as I like everything symetrical, if I but a gem on one corner, I have to put one on the other corner to balance it all out.  The little fairy charm is from our local China shop (there will be similar in my candy).  Homemade quilled flowers, crochet flower and bead pin.  The lace paper border has been in my stash forever.  Butterflies are Marianne and the leaves are Crealies.
What a miserable day here today, I came downstairs this morning to see this outside our kitchen window ------------

It had been raining through the night and it must have brought half the desert with it, everything was covered and wet and yukky.  So once I had had brekky I get my mop bucket and go outside to clear it up.  The, after lunch it flippin' well did it again, not quite as bad, but bad enough.  Hope it is nice wherever you are.

For Mum

Good Morning All
A quick post this morning as we are going out for Sunday Lunch today Mmmmm, roast beef me thinks.
Just a little bit of good news, at fat club yesterday, I had a good weight loss of 1.5kg so now I am just 1lb short of losing a full stone since I started.  The club weighs us in kg's but I am still in stones and pounds so I convert it.  Today I have got a pair of black jeans on that I have not worn for ages.

My card today is a twisted easel.
All pinks and reds for Mums.  I cant remember whose image this is.  I print quite afew images off in one go then colour then as and when I feel like it, but I really should write on the back of them.  If anyone knows please leave me a comment to tell me.  I think the flower is Tim Holtz die
(from John Next Door, he has just put some lovely creations on his blog this week).

Hope you all have a great Sunday.

I,m back to some doing an odd piece of parchment, I have spells at doing it as each piece takes quite a long time.
I think this piece is so delicate and pretty.  I have coloured it with pastels on the reverse.  Attached it to a shaped lilac card with tiny gold brads.

Have fun with the challenge,  I,m sure it will be a popular theme, wome and the other DT's will have lots of hopping to do.

Paintbox Poppet

Good Afternoon All

A fairly simple card from me today but I think it is very pretty.
It is decoupage from Crafters Companion ' Paintbox Poppets', they are such sweet images.  I have layered it on pink and blue card, freebie sentiment ( from Nettys Cards ) and a feather and afew pearls.
My butterfly I made myself as shown here.

I have used a thick crepe paper in pale blue, cut into the general shape of a butterfly, wrapped fine wire round it, added antennae (is that how you spell it?) Then added a large gem for the body.

Chocolate

Good Afternoon All
My card today was made especially for The Cuttlebug Spot Challenge 'Life is Like a Box of Chocolates.
I wrote the quote from the film (Forest Gump) on cream paper and diecut it with scalloped Oval then layered it onto chocolate coloured, card then brown card.  The paper I found in my scrap box and thought it was very apt with a mailbox on it and it was in the clours I wanted to use.  The backing paper is from Papermania.  Added Joanna Sheen ribbon in two colours and some buttons and flowers.

Sew Nice

Good Morning All
I made this yesterday because I have numerous of these little sewing kits that you get in hotels  and I did not want to throw them away, so this is what I did with one of them.
The papers are from Papermania Docrafts goody bag last year
Buttons from my Mums old button tin
Sacking from the Rioja wine bottle
White material is offcut from when I shortened my curtains for my craft room
                                                             ************************

Also when I was out shopping in the local China store I found these --------

The charms are only 90 cents (70p) and there are loads to choose from along with jewelery findings, and the pearl pins are 80 cents and about 2" long.

The yellow sponge dibbers I thought would be good for either chalking or inking and I made some more of my cork blenders myself to have seperate ones for each colour I use.

Welcome to my new followers too, dont forget to enter the candy draw, I have added some pics of more bits I  have added and there will be more to come.

Wrap It Up

Good Morning All
Time for a new challenge at Love to Create  and as my post title says the theme is 'Wrap It Up'  (Use twine, string or fibres) so I have wrapped twine around the side steps of my card and the sacking is recycled from a bottle of Rioja wine!!!!!
I kept it fairly simple as I thought this digi from Eureka stamps (called 'Heart Dog') was so cute I wanted to keep it as the main focal point.  I just added afew bits of glitter on the image.  Stuck some gems and buttons with twine tied through them onto the sides.
Our sponsors this week are  ---
