About Me

My photo
Alicante, Spain
Hi. I live in Spain with my partner. I am retired and LOVE it. I love life here but I do miss my family back in the UK, two sons and three sisters and my Mum. Crafting is my life, I do something every single day. In the past it has helped me get through some bad times in my life. One such bad time was when my first grandson died aged just 14 months. He had been born 8 weeks prem but was very healthy and was growing into a beautiful, bonny boy. It was such a shock when the call came. A day never passes when I dont think of him. I am now Nanna again to grand daughter, Hollie, born July 2012, and Tess born March 2016. This is my younger son and his partner. I now have another Grandson, Noah, born Nov 2013 to my elder Son and they have 3 daughters Aurora, born March 2015 and Arabella, born August 2017 and Arianna born 2019. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my makes. Please leave a comment so that I know you have visited me. I love reading them all. xxxx

Thank You

Good Afternoon All
I am feeling abit better but still have pains in my back.
We are back to our winter Saturday nights, he is in the kitchen cooking steak, baked potato and salad and he keeps my wine glass filled as I watch 'Come Dine With Me' and play on my laptop.
I have cleared my desk this afternoon as it was really starting to get on my nerves, my work space was getting smaller and smaller!!!

I made this card yesterday.

I have made afew crochet flowers and this is one of them and there will be more to follow I,m sure.
Lots of quilled flowers too.
Let me know what you think.

Congratulations

Good Morning All
I had a bad day yesterday, spent most of it curled up on the sofa with a duvet around me, dont know what was wrong, maybe part of cystitis infection but was achy and nearly fainted in the morning.  Anyway, I am feeling much better today.
This was really quite a simple card to make.  In May I received a parcel from a friend at Docrafts - Chrislee- and in it was lot of quilled flowers and some punched borders.  The roses some were some of the  quilled flowers which I think are stunning, I cannot get mine to look so good.  I made the others twirly ones and the pearl bead pin.  All the rest was made up of bits in my stash.  I think it looks pretty stylish and could be used for any occasion.

                     "What you talkin'  'bout"

Only 4 weeks to go now until I get to talk to her in person.

Quickie

Good Evening All
A very quick and simple Christmas card just to show you what can be made recycling last years Christmas cards.  Some of my neighbours and Linda (from Animal Aid) give me their old Christmas cards and usually I will use the backs (plain white card) for embossing in Cuttlebug but there are afew images  and/or sentiments that I think will look nice made into another card and this was one of them.

Very simply just matted and layered onto black and green mirri card and afew stars added.
I make so many Christmas cards for the charities here, this is a good way of making them cheaply.

Crochet flower

Good Afternoon All
It is still cold and wet here in Spain and I,m still suffering with back pain, not sure if connected to cystitis or if I may have pulled a muscle.  I have been trying to take my mind from it by crafting believe it or not.
I saw some lovely crochet poppies on the Docrafts forum and I have seen flowers before on cards so I thought I would have ago.  I had some bits of wool left from knitting prem baby hats so I made a couple last night.  I have still got some Daisy and Dandelion decoupage left that I won a good while ago.
Have a good day everyone.

Sassy Studios

Good Morning All
Monday means another challenge at Love to Create.  This week our sponsor is Sassy Studios and the theme is fancy edges so, once again, that is a nice easy one. The winner can choose 2 gorgeous images.  And the second sponsor is The Digi Garden who will give a winner 7 digis of their choice.
I chose this Mary Poppins image from Sassy, coloured her with Promarkers and Spectrum Noir and mounted her on Spellbinders scalloped ovals.  The corners and circle are from Papermania, as are the gems.  Tiny pink bow from Mei Flowers and I put ribbon on the edge after making a hole with my Cropodile.
We have fun looking at your creations and there are new members on the design team so there is even more inspiration for you to look at.

A pretty, girly card today.  It is a Saturated Canary image coloured with Promarkers and Spectrum Noir and mounted onto scalloped circle cut with Spellbinders die.  Sentiment was retrieved from another card.  Scraps of paper and card from stash. Gems from Papermania.  Gorgeous 'dress' Charm from one of my chopped up 1 euro bracelets.

Christmas card for Hollie

Good Morning All
Weather has changed abit here, it is dull today and we have had abit of rain.
I made this card following a tutorial I found here, the blog is called Homemade With Love, Gems and Pretty Things, and I came across it whilst doing my DT bit for Forever Friends.  I tried making this card from Making cards magazine last year and the instructions were not very clear (I did email them and asked but got no reply) and I am sure I have still got the original in a drawer somewhere w hich I will try to finish now. Anyway, this one was so easy to make and I think it looks great.

The pictures are abit bright as the flash kept going off as it,s abit dull here today.
I used my Forever Friends decoupage as I love the FF bears and then decorated to my hearts content.

Christmas Stocking

Good Morning All
Here is the stocking I have made for Hollies first Christmas.  Made from felt, I drew a pattern myself just to get a guide to the size I wanted and I used a Crafters Companion  CD to make templates for the letters (the cd's are great for this as you can make letters in 3 sizes).  I think it looks pretty cute, and I hope her Mum and Dad like it too and Santa will fill it with delicious goodies in future years for her.  I used to love my Christmas Stocking filled with nuts, an apple, a tangerine and maybe an orange too.  Those were the days!!!!

Thank You

Good Evening All
Well I do give thanks that I have found my mojo, not sure where it was hiding but it came back to me when I got my colouring pens out to get to work on my DT images for this months challenges.
I got to work on some images and thought this one would look good  without any colour and decided to make the card all black and white.
The image is  Fizzy Moon stamp -Celebrations
Corners are Memory Box -Macarena
Papermania gems

Also, today, I have been making a felt Christmas stocking for Hollie with her name on it.  I will take a picture and post it on here tomorrow when I get some daylight to photograph it.  I hope  her Mum and Dad will keep it and bring it out for her every year to be hung up for Santa to fill.
See you tomorrow.

Gone Fishing

Good Morning All
I should be back from hols by the time this post goes out but I have scheduled it just in case.
This months challenge at Forever Friends is 'Anything Goes' so that's a nice easy one and we hope to see lots of entries, and remember, you dont have to have an animal image on your creation anymore, but to be considered for the favourite, you must use a Forever Friends image, and the sponsor for this is Sugar and Spice who will give the chosen winner some embossing powders.

Our sponsor for the challenge  is Bugaboo Stamps
And they will give the winner----
And here is my card using one of their digis - Sunbonnet Fish and this makes a great 'man' card
And inside
The backing card here is some I bought in New Zealand in 2007, it is of Paua shells, which are found there and I bought some lovely jewellery there too.  (I,ve just found out that Paua is a Maori name given to edible see snails)
I cut an aperture with Spellbinders Scalloped Hexagons in the front of a 5 x5 card blank and coloured the edges with blue Spectrum Noir.  Decorated the front with Papermania Corners and a star, buttons and a charm, homemade sentiment 'Son'.  Inside I mounted the image onto the hexagon shape in blue.  Image is coloured with both Promarkers and Spectrum Noir.
Please join in the fun on the challenge, I know the Design Team enjoy looking at all your creations.

Double Bubble

Good Morning All
I will be on the high seas when this is posted I hope.
As it is Monday it is a new challenge at Love to Create.  We have two sponsors today ---
Crafty Sentiments , who will give the winner 3 of their digis, and Floppy Latte Designs.  Floppy Latte will give the winner $10 worth of their designs.
The theme of the challenge it 'Pumpkins Pumpkins Everywhere' so my first card is made with an image from Crafty Sentimetns called  'Holloween'.
I've tried to make the ghost look like he is floating around holding beaded pins so I attached him to  a piece of acetate.
I used an orange 5x5 card blank, matted with black card and I used pumpkin paper printed from a site called 'Squidoo' where you can get lots of free papers.
Joanna Sheen ribbon
Homemade bead pins
Black corner is a Marianne Creatables.

My second card uses a Floppy Latte design called 'Purrcedes'.
I coloured the image with Promarkers
Used some black punched flowers with ornge brads at the centres, and some yellow and orange punched flowers too.
A different shaped bead pin
Used some pumpkins cut out from the paper I used on card above

I found this challenge abit challenging as Halloween was not a big thing in the UK when my boys were young but let me know what you think.

Trick or Treat

Good Morning All
If this goes out on schedule I shall be on the high seas somewhere around Italy.
It,s Monday morning so that is time for Love to Create Challenge and this week the theme is Trick or Treat OR Something Sweet. The sponsors this week are the great Sassy Studio Design, who will give a  winner 2 of their digis, AND
 Digi Darla Designs.
I chose a Sassy Studio design called Little Honey.  I coloured her with Promarkers and Spectrum Noir.  The silver card has spiders webs embossed on it and I have used a lovely glass new moon trinket hanging from the gorgeous deep red ribbon bow.  Felt flowers made with Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms and some punched flowers.  Homemade sentiment and a freebie ticket sentiment too. Black gems and a homemade bead pin completes my design for this weeks DT card, I hope you like it and will join in the challenge and have fun with this theme.

Fall Fun

Good Morning All
The challenge at Love to Create this week is Fall Fun, as this is an American saying 'Fall', we would say Autumn so I always think of harvest so I chose this gorgeous image from our sponsors this week called 'Harvest Basket'.  Eureka Stamps are looking after us this week and they sell both rubber and digi stamps, and will give the winner 5 digis of their choice.
This pic is when it is closed and tied with a bow
This is the inside with another bow and sentiment
You can see from these 2 pics where the folds are

I made a sort of Trifold card this week and it is held closed with wide organza ribbon (from Aldi)
Paper inside from Create & Craft
Spellbinders scalloped circle die
Yellow card sent to me from a Docrafts buddy
Wooden button from ebay with twine
Gems from Papermania

I hope you all have fun with this challenge and all the DT girls enjoy visiting your blogs.

Something Different

Good Morning All

I saw these on a friends blog and thought they looked so good.
I followed her link to the Youtube tutorial and here    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6XK9vYM6P8   it is.  They are abit fiddly but well worth it.  I used 3" squares so that makes a 6 to 7" size decoration.
I used double sided 'Me to You' paper so that all sides had print on them, it looks very pale in the pics and for Christmas they would look really good in bold colours.  I,m going to hang them on my glass doors at Christmas time.
