Allsorts time again and the theme this week is Anything But Not A Card so get your thinking caps on and away you go.
I chose a Digidarla Sentiment and decided to make another book, a sort of diary/ reminder book for birthdays, appointments etc.
This is a brilliant way of using all your bits - short pieces of ribbon or twine, any odd flowers and any odd embellishments, see further down on this post.
I made a mistake by cutting two holes in the wrong side of the front, so I cut corresponding holes in the back and put some rope through to use as ties for keeping closed. These were very, very white so I rubbed some ink on them to tone them down, the same colour ink as I used for the edges of the sentiment and the front and some embellishments.
Inside this book I put quite afew leaves, folded and glued to make pockets to store any bits and bobs - photos, appointment cards or any other stuff.
This is the inside of the first cover. I used a sheet from Astrid Artistic Efforts HERE and I made a book mark and slotted it on the inside.
Then a full year of monthly diary sheets from Cuddly Buddly HERE.
I use these for my birthday reminders.
I only stuck these down at one edge so that they can be removed at the end of the year and fresh ones glued in without making too much mess.
I glued the remainder of Astrids sheet on different pages.
Odd bits of waste peel-offs to make the pouch stand out.
I tied strips of webbing on coloured paper clips, both to use and for decoration.
I stuck envelopes on some pages, and on others, I glued triangles of card to make a little pouch for storing photos or cards.
I cut tags that could be used as a title card for what is stored in that pouch. I cut these from pieces of birthday / Christmas cards that people give me to recycle.
I carried on decorating the pages with odd bits that I had on my desk and in my scrappy box (which is getting very full again, I will have to have a splurge again soon).
A different envelope.
Another piece from Astrids sheet.
On the back sleeve I had a larger print of the sentiment so I made another pocket with it and put a tag in it.
This piccy show the top edge of the book and the bits of web / ribbon tied around the page clips.
An odd scrunched paper flower and a felt flower stuck to the middle of it.
I loved making this book and could probably have used alot more bits.
Back to the Challenge -------
Digidarla Designs will give the winner 5 images of choice.
And Pin & Tack who are giving a $10 voucher
Here is another example of a book using the same sentiment.
Front Cover
Not as many embellishments though.
Inside
At my slimming club we have a raffle every week. We all take a piece of fruit or a tin of something, I took this book and a lovely lady won it whose hubby had passed last year (I think) and she said she would use it to keep memories of him in - snippets from newspaper, cards and notes etc etc, which I thought was a lovely idea.
Have fun with this challenge and I look forward to visiting your blogs to what you have created.
