Sunday Mojo No. 4

Good Morning All
This is  a scheduled post as, with any luck, I will be 25,000 feet high in the sky flying to the UK on my Hollie days.  Easter eggs are packed along with my winter woollies.

My good news today is that I have been asked to join Lady Annes new challenge DT.  This is a monthly challenge and I am really looking forward to the new challenges with my new team mates.  Here

The pack of bits I gave John Next Door last week for this weeks mojo challenge, I must admit, I found quite difficult to make anything I was happy with so I cant wait to see what he has made.  I thought his creations last week were amazing, pop over and have a peep, just follow the link above.

This is what I came up with.

My gorgeous new LOTV stamp coloured with Promarkers.  Spellbinders border die and embosser and my beloved 'liquid pearls'.

I must admit I dont really like this one and these diecuts of lillies were a real challenge, but 'heyho' onwards and upwards.

This was the pack I gave him last Sunday, it was all red, orange and yellows.  I,m going to hop over to Johns blog and see what he has made.

John has told me about the challenge for next Sunday - he is giving me two card blanks and two envelopes and the subject is 'Found'.  He has explained that I have to make  a card with items I find, a bus ticket, a feather, a leaf, absolutely anything that I  may pick up, wherever I am.  How strange is that?

Vintage

Good Morning All
Allsorts challenge theme this week is 'Vintage',  now this is out of the box for me, I really had to think about this one and this is what I came up with.  I thought a fan is old fashioned and ladies used to crochet to pass the time and they wore pearls and feathers.  I distressed all the papers to  look aged.
The fan is an image from Lilac Garden
Homemade pin and crochet hearts with pearl
Memory Box Swirl diecut
I inked all the edges of papers and card and images with my one and only Tim Holtz Distress ink and a brown ink I have had for years
Pearls and lace and feathers added

Sponsor this week is 'Lots of Buttons'
Have lots of fun with the challenge this week.

Engagement

Good Afternoon All

I have still not heard from my candy winner so unless I do it will be drawn again on Saturday.

I wanted to show you this card I made last year for a friend who asked me to make a card for their friends engagement.
It is a Criss Cross with a seperate card inside it.

I decorated the criss cross with diecuts,
a homemade pin, ribbons, pearls, flowers and gems
I made a band to slide over, both to pretty it all and to hold all together.

The card I used was so heavily embossed I did not think I needed to add much embellishment to it.

I added an insert and a diecut heart with a sentiment printed on the computer.

Pastel Colours

Good Morning All
The them at Love to Create Challenge this week is 'Pastel Colours' or 'Easter'.  I chose a simple image from one of our sponsors - QKR Stampede called 'Apple Blossom Label'.  I coloured with Promarkers.

I obviously kept it all pastel shades -  pinks and lilacs and a little green.  I embossed a piece of white card and inked it, then cut it diagonally.  I put a length of lace and ribbon on the edge.  A couple of gems and a corner diecut.

Our sponsors this week are ---

Sunday Mojo No. 3

Good Morning All
If you saw my post here you would have seen the bits for the Mojo Challenge that John gave me, this is just a little challenge  between John Next Door and I.
These are the bits again, we can use all or some and add our own bits to them. This is what I came up with.

This is the first one - An easel card using numerous die cuts of my own and quite afew of the bits that John sent round.

This is a close up of the lovely paper he gave me.
Second item was the book and this is what I came up with - a Secret Hiding Place like you see in Spy Movies!!!!!
I stamped my initials on one of the tags, inked the edges of some of the quilled flowers.

So this is the front.

This is a side view showing that it is a Patricia Cornwell novel (I do enjoy reading her books sometimes)

This is what I did with the inside, it took a while with a very sharp craft knife and I have kept all the insides to cut flowers from.
I stuck a sheet of the patterned paper on the inside page to cover the hole.

Attached ribbon to tie it closed.
This was something abit different and I really enjoyed it.   It also got me into making some smash books / envelope books 7 memory books  as shown in the link above.  John gets alot of hard backs from the books at work that they can no longer sell (they sell 2nd hand books in the shop) and they are perfect for covering with nice paper and making these books with.  There will no doubt be more of these in future posts from me.  I have already made one for my my sons partner who has just found out she is having a baby.  I have put lots of pockets inside it so that she can keep records and appointment cards or memory bits for her and the baby.  So I think afew people will be getting these as  Christmas gifts too.

Wendy L
PS.  Here is what I  have put together for next week, No. 4. Plus a stamped image which I have not done yet.  The die cuts are from a set of Spellbinders I bought without reading properly (I seem to do this alot) I I think you need a set of stamps with them.  They are meant to be Lillies, they are on a set with Crosses on, which is why I bought them,  for sympathy cards.  I am eager to see what John does with them, as he has an artistic eye for things like this.

ADDED-----
Gems - 1 clear pack and 1 black pack.  A gorgeous pack of 'butterfly' charms.   JUST ADDED some more gems and gorgeous heart shaped charms

A pack of stamps- Papermania Square Urban Chronology (given to me by John Next Door) and a Christmas rubber stamps set.

I have just learnt how to crochet hearts so there will be some of those too.

Deco Delights

Good Morning All
The theme this week for the Allsorts challenge is 'Deco Delights' this means 1920's Glamour and Glitz so I think this will be a really interesting one for us DT members to hop around and see all your creations.

I have made something abit different for this challenge.  It is a Lilac Garden design and Audrey has some wonderful decoupage on her site.  I got this idea from John Next Door, we were talking about designs for cards and he suggested trying this style, I hope you like it.
This is it stood up and I think it looks really stylish.  I hope you like it and will try this style of card for a special person or  occasion.

This is it laid flat, it  is 3 pieces connected with eyelets and ribbon.  I put the image on the centre one and decorated the front one with a sentiment, feathers and flowers.  The end one, I used ribbon and a pin and more flowers.  It is all done in different shades of turquoise, greens and blues.  I have glitzed the image but you cant really see it on the pic.

First LOTV

Good Morning All
My card this morning is a LOTV image.  I love their designs and did not have a one so I went on the website and ordered a gorgeous rubber stamp (a card to follow soon) and a set of toppers which I think are so cute.
Cute little mice eating a box of chocs.
I had to put the glitter on the side as I put some liquid pearls on then stuck my finger in and smudged so I had to cover it with something!!!!.

Books

Good Morning All

John Next Door has set the new challenge for Sunday 24th, but it may be earlier as he has commitments, so keep watching.  I will show you what he has sent at the end of this post. A hint is 'books' this got me into what I have made here.
I saw these books on Youtube and I thought that it would be a great idea for storing my digis that I print off ready for colouring, and I can store them with a piece of paper reminding me which digis they are as  I always forget.

It is called an 'Envelope Book'

You could add as many envelopes as you would like.  I used the front and back off a hardback novel.  John gets these from his work, as they throw old book aout that have not sold.   I covered it with Papermania Capsule papers and decorated it the Papermania flowers from the same collection.  I distressed the edges and made a fancy binding with me Spellbinders Edgabilities.
This is a view of the top showing how you stick the envelopes on a piece of card that has been scored and folded into 1cm mountain and valley folds.

I love it, and I am going to make some more to take to my 'DIL's for gifts when I go on my Hollie Days on Easter Sunday.
I have found out this week that I am going to be a Nanna again.  This time it is my son who lost his son in 2010.  He is settled with a new partner now and seems very happy, I am so pleased for him and I think he is ready for this now, it has obviously taken time and he has been through some very bad times.

Dont for get that my candy draw takes place on Sunday 24th March, this will give the winner time to get their address to me before I leave for the UK.

This is what John gave me for our challenge this week.
Everything is blues/greys -  paper, card, ribbon, flowers, diecuts and strips of glittery card.

And an old novel.

I have definately had to get my thinking cap on for this one.  I have completed one and thinking about the second one now.

Friends for Anything Goes

Good Morning All
Love to Create Challenge time again, and this week the theme is 'Anything Goes', so that is really open to anything.

I chose a 2 Cute Ink image called 'Butterfly Bear'
He is such a cutie, I coloured him with Promarkers and Spectrum Noirs. I kept to the colours of Orange, yellow and browns.  As the backing paper had a butterfly on I had to add a few more!!

First Challenge

Good Afternoon All
This is the results of the little challenge I have going with John Next Door.  He challenged me first by giving me the frame shown here and asked if I fancied doing a little 'MOJO'  challenge every week, one week he will give me some goodies to play with and the next week I will do the same see here for more details and pics. We dont have to use every item and we can add other bits from our own stash.
This is what I sorted out for this week and this is what I came up with.
Two cards ---------------

First one -------
I split the card front and used the acetate to join again
Stamped a sentiment on one of the tags and used two more tags at the top with one of the metal charm and ribbon.

Put the picture inside so you can see it through the acetate.
Card two -------------
Used the negative die cut, again, to see pretty paper through it
Used some squares of matching paper to do  some teabag folding to make half a flower and the gold silver printed fabric, folded and layered,  to make the other half of the flower.  Used the rest of the ribbon for the centre.  Made some corners and flowers from the foiled paper.
John told me he found this quite difficult when I spoke to him yesterday, so I will be very interested to see what he comes up with.  This will be a regular Sunday date for us so keep watching.  I will have to miss one Sunday when I am on my Hollie day though, which I cant wait for.

PS.  I have just seen Johns creations and they are great, pop over and have a look  use the link at the top of this post. xx

Frame

Hi All
John Next Door and I have started a little challenge just between us.  This is  the item that put the idea in his head.
He gave me a canvas frame that measured about 16" x 16", it had a sentiment about daughters on, and as I dont have a daughter I thought I would paint it.  I used my oil paints and they took ages to dry but I have finally finished it.  You can see Johns on the link above.

Here is mine when I first painted it.                             You can see Johns finished frame here.
I did it in white first then decided I wanted it in black, abit of a change I know, but as I started painting it, I thought it looked good sort of stripey.
It is all flowers and butterflies.

I used loads of different dies - Spellbinders Bitty Blossom flowers, Spellbinders shapes, Marianne butterflies, Crealies leaves and Cheery Lynn corners and hearts.

Of course, it is all dedicated to Hollie.   It will hang in my newly decorated reading room upstairs (this is really what was the veranda of our bedroom and has been glassed in, I have moved the bookcases into it, hence 'reading room') which has accessories in purple and pinks.
